  • Please fix Bridge Mode

Let me preface this review by saying Google Fiber is an excellent service. But the service is more than the fast speeds, itā€™s how you interact with it. The GFiber app has been unable to work with my service since day 3 when I turned on Bridge Mode ( to allow use of your own router) Long story short here are some stats: 27: number of days the app has not worked to do anything except check the ONT 3: number of changeouts we have done with routers and mesh extenders 3: truck rolls to my home to try and fix the problem 7: combined calls, chats to care or visits to GFiber space in KC. 3: escalations 0: resolutions. 4: app deletion/re-installs While I have service, itā€™s not performing and the app is the weak link. Please fix it.
  • Bad update

When their updates break the app they have no way to give feedback or support. They donā€™t seem to be very focused on retail customers.
  • Lack of safety features

Significant loss of features and capabilities from what can be done in the Google home app. Specifically around grouping, safe search, pausing and removing devices from WiFi. This is a big loss for individuals and parents that prioritize internet safety. Very disappointing for a user that upgraded to a more premium experience.

The app is slow. It doesn't show all the extenders so its hard to know their status. The green indicator lights are on but it's hard to see how well they are functioning.
  • I miss the parental control features that were in Google Home app

The app is good but they removed parental control features.
  • Slowest Google app

Why does every user interaction take 5-10 seconds to load? ā€œFetching account infoā€¦ā€ ā€œFetching router detailsā€¦ā€ Itā€™s 2025. Why is nothing cached? Why is nothing pre-loaded? Itā€™s painfully slow. Cā€™mon.
  • Needs work

The app generally works well. My main issue, is I cannot upgrade my plan to a faster speed with my own equipment. It wants to force a service call to install new equipment that are not needed. My equipment is the faster WiFi 7 and quad band. Also my fiber jacket support all levels of speed offered. I have a BUG submitted with GFiber support, but I cannot upgrade my account until they fix the issue for those who use their own equipment.
  • Donā€™t bother training your staff, just have them work at the Google fiber company instead

A simple request of customer service turned into a two hour Odyssey. Me why canā€™t I get a stuttered dialtone on the Google fiber phone in order to indicate that they are pending on her voice messages? Young representative: ā€œI believe itā€™s because your phone service goes over the Internet, sir.ā€ Me, well, sir I gotta tell you I donā€™t think thatā€™s the issue because I use other services that are on the Internet and they were fine with the stomach rip well let me tell you that Iā€™ve been around for quite a while and so Iā€™m pretty sure that Iā€™m right. Me, OK young man listen up, dude. Iā€™ve been around phones and doing things with phones properly before you were born, I worked it National communication center in Lenexa Kansas in 1990. Iā€™ve been trained with AT&T and I have been like I said around phone since before you were born. Youngblood, well as I indicated, sir. Me OK now donā€™t indicate it again. You already did. Are you gonna be able to send us a ticket or what? Youngblood no, it doesnā€™t need a ticket. Itā€™s more like a suggestion. Me no OK whatever Youngblood had indicated. I said he created a ticket. Whatā€™s the ticket number? He said he after hanging up with him, my Google fiber phone stopped working. My account has been canceled. Because Iā€™m a proud Ham Radio operator and a member of amateur emergency services I have redundancies therefore I was able to get on my iPhone contact customer service and have the disconnect reversed, even though there didnā€™t appear to be any evidence indicating that there was ever a disconnect order in the first place.****last night while using the Google fiber app was attempting to get an IP address for one of my devices. The app recognize that I have nine devices however when I hit manage devices, the only thing on my screen was the back button in the refresh button a quick check with Apple 20 minutes after spending time with one of your reps to no avail, looks like it wasnā€™t the voiceover issue because Apple rep could only see the back and refresh button no our glass nothing. Maybe the next time the service is down or ā€œbeing updated.ā€œ Google fiber can send out a mass message to all the reps so that when I call asking about an issue, given honest and prompt information not the 20 minute runaround that I got. PS on issue number one with the phone upon request I was offered a $6.75 credit. Definitely not acceptable.
  • Disappointing

I tried to like this app but it is a downgrade from the Google Home app. I want to be able to turn off devices at bedtime on fiber, but it isnā€™t an option.
  • Donā€™t pay them annually

Be aware if pay them in year in advance and then cancel in the middle of the year they will not give your money back.
