  • Too many issues with the app

    I have YouTube premium so I started using YouTube music because it was included with my subscription. I really cannot stand this app… it has so many issues. It will randomly pause the music at least once a day for me, for no discernible reason. If I’m listening to a playlist while I’m in my car, and I get out of my car, when I come back it completely refreshes the app. So I then have to go find the playlist again and I end up having to listen to songs I already listened to just a few minutes ago. The most annoying feature though is the explicit content advisory. The app arbitrarily flags some songs as “offensive” and if that song is on my playlist, it will not play it until I acknowledge the warning message. It does this every time I listen to a flagged song, no matter how many times I’ve requested to play it after the warning message. I have explicit content enabled in my settings, and it still does this. Don’t waste your time with this app, it’s terrible.

    This all used to be my one source of happiness in this stupid fricked up world. Then this stupid new thing when you have to be in the ap to listen unless you pay? Spotify is way more worth my time.

    I’m a student who switched over from Spotify after being with them for nearly five years. I watch a lot of YT, and they had an offer for Premium that included YT Music for $8.47 compared to Spotify that was like $6 on the student plan. It was a steal. However, YT Music is absolute garbage. The only reason I haven’t deleted it, is because the YT premium bundle is too good to miss out on. The button that’s supposed to add a song to my queue doesn’t work. Since it doesn’t work, i have to manually queue up songs and it’s way more difficult than it should be. There’s a limit of how many songs it will display and once you reach its last song, you have to manually play another song, which makes it extremely inconvenient and dangerous while driving. The shuffle is the worst I’ve ever experienced. I thought Spotify was bad, YT music is somehow worse. My playlist has close to 450 songs and it will play the same like 30 constantly. There’s been times when it played the same artist 4-5 times in a row after shuffling. YT music has no idea how to recommend new music that sounds like an artist I’ve been listening to. Instead, it will just play the same artist over and over again. After downloading my playlists, it has a difficult time trying to play MY DOWNLOADED MUSIC OFFLINE. It’s already downloaded, why is this even an issue? It makes working out or driving frustrating. The playlists that YT music automatically generates are very misleading. For example, they create a workout playlist. Some of the songs the songs are upbeat, but a lot are slower and melodic, which for me, is the opposite of what I want. The same applies for playlists that are dealing with Party Music. I don’t understand how this app is rated so highly. If Google/ YouTube wants to make a music app that’s competitive with other major streaming platforms, they need to seriously reevaluate their product and fix it. It’s honestly an embarrassing look for them because of how bad the interface is and a poor user experience.

    Thank you for being literally everything Spotify is not. The adds are minimal and skippable and you can put songs on repeat and replay parts and it’s sooo niceee. I was also shocked to discover when I first opened the app to see all my favorite songs already available to me because I listen to them on YouTube. I’m so relieved to have downloaded this today. The ONLY downside is that the app does not play in the background of things. Like when you keep the window open and are on another app the song won’t keep playing. I was a little sad but I can cope with that because it’s so much easier just to LISTEN to my music now 😭😭😭

    Na why is it that I go half way down my liked list the song that I chose plays but the name of that song and the artist name are COMPLETELY Different including the cover art then when the song I choose is over it goes to the next one on the top of the list disregarding the song that selected next one happens every time even on android not just IOS. This makes me really angry bc this NEVER HAPPENED back in 2018 never please fix I do enjoy the app but not when this happens.

    I would love to highly recommend this app to anyone to listen to music especially if you pay for YouTube premium already. Unfortunately there has been a problem that has been happening recently at my home with this app not wanting to load songs and telling me there is an error. I don’t have this happen with anything else. I would really like to get back to listening to my music at home soon. If there is any way that this can be fixed I will definitely change my rating back to 5 stars!

    Really loved the app about 3 years ago. It seems like the app ALWAYS has some sort of new bug in it now. Downloaded song wont load, freezing when searching, and crashing legitimately every 10-15 minutes. I used to always recommend YT music over other streaming apps, but i don’t anymore. Really not worth paying for anymore…
