You changed something in the app and GPS no longer works.

Fitbit has continually ignored the pleas of users to fix historic data that isn't showing. The other metrics it is supposed to monitor don't update either. Received an email with the same ineffective solution and thrown back into the same loop that has yet to bring a solution. All this happened after Fitbit transitioned to Google.

Honestly, I've never known a company so bad...that couldn't fix something within a couple days. But the app has not worked since September, when google took over. I've written a million times to get no fixes or answers. Here's the issue...the app isn't recording steps or floors, it's synching though and showing active minutes and other measurements. Here's what I've done...removed my Fitbit, turned off blue tooth, restarted iPad, restarted Fitbit, turned off the steps and floors from showing in the grid, turned them back on, re-synched my Fitbit about 100 times. There's literally nothing left for me to try. Here's the bigger problem, it may work when I first turn everything back on. And I'm guessing that's when google 😡 thinks they fixed it and walk away. But it's not fixed! If I close out and open again, it's back to zero. If it showed everything yesterday and I launch again today, it'll show today after going through the dozen steps turning everything off/on, but yesterday's info is back to zero. If your trouble shooters think they've fixed it because steps now show, think again...the info doesn't stay, it's gone in a day or after closing out. Why after 4 MONTHS is this still not fixed?!! I'd never buy another Fitbit ever. Thanks google, for ruining something that was really helpful for me.

Overnight my Fitbit app became a white screen on my iPhone SE. it is still working on my iPad mini. Deleted and reinstalled the app. Still didn’t work. Finally shut down my iPhone and restarted it. Yay. My app is back! Whew! I had to submit a review because it wouldn’t go away. So I edited it with this happy ending.

Fitbit is pretty nice for simple trackers but lacks a whole lot of obvious features and has a lot of bugs. Sleep often doesn’t register correctly. A lot of metrics are poorly explained or have figures that mean very little (i.e. poor graph labeling). There’s a big lack of customizability for watch faces (only allows pre-selected colors and metrics). Lacks integration with almost anything outside of Fitbit/Google so it falls behind in a lot of smartwatch comparisons. Is purposefully hard to integrate with things like Apple Health or any other health apps. Lots of syncing issues. The social feature is kind of terrible because you can only share a few metrics and that’s only if you fully integrate your Google account (which most of my older family members will never do). The biggest upside is it gives me peace of mind for health conditions like afib, insight on training intensity, and monitoring my sleep. Fitbit could be great if they actually tried, but they seem to have settled for mediocrity.

  • Put it back the way it was

Update: After 6 years of loving my Fitbit Versa and NEVER taking it off, they released an update that ruined it entirely. I held out hope for several weeks that they would put it back the way it was… but clearly from the feedback and responses here, they are not going to fix it. It’s ruined and useless. I uninstalled the app. The Fitbit is thrown in the back of a drawer, untouched since Novemember 2024. I’m researching other options for tracking exercise, sleep, calories… because Fitbit app literally no longer DOES ANY OF THOSE THINGS! I’m not sure why they decided to make all of the wonderful, helpful features useless but that’s what they did. It is a real shame and makes me very sad but I’m moving on. Not worrying about this stupid app ever again. Developers, is it going to stay awful and unusable, or is there a plan to put it back the way it was before the recent updates? Just revert back to the version from spring and it will be fine again. Otherwise it’s useless to even wear a Fitbit. Doesn’t record anything, can’t even see the data on the app, it’s just jumbled, monochromatic trash. Sleep no longer records anything. No steps are ever tracked. Useless garbage since the update. Prior to this, I never took it off since 2019 and I depended on it and loved it. It’s now in a drawer waiting to see if you revert back to previous version or not. Why did you do this to a perfect app? Update… I keep checking to see if it looks like they have fixed it, and I can see from the continuing awful reviews that it has not been fixed. I guess it is going to stay broken forever? They are trying to drive us all to buy a Google watch? I will not. Google sabotaged Fitbit when they bought it.
  • Miss old features

I’m living some of the new features offered, cardio load, HRV. Fitbit really helps me manage my fitness and push when I can and rest when I need to. I do miss some old features, specifically the color coding for calorie burn. Seeing the yellow, orange and green really helped with a snap shot of my workouts and motivation. I wish they’d bring that back.
