Google Slides is one of the most frustrating, broken, and poorly designed apps I’ve ever had the misfortune of using. Every time I try to get work done, it lags, glitches, or straight-up crashes, wasting my time and testing my patience. It’s supposed to be a simple tool for making presentations, but instead, it feels like a buggy mess that barely functions. Google, a company worth billions, somehow can’t make a basic slideshow app that doesn’t freeze every five seconds. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the developers are just sitting around, laughing at how bad they’ve made it. One of the biggest issues with Google Slides is its constant lagging. You click on something, and instead of responding instantly, the app just sits there like a brain-dead sloth. Moving text boxes, changing fonts, or even scrolling through slides turns into a slow, painful process. How is it that in 2025, a simple cloud-based app still struggles with basic responsiveness? It’s as if the people who designed it never actually used it for real work. Then there are the glitches, which make it even worse. Sometimes slides just disappear. Other times, text won’t save properly, or elements randomly move around like they have a mind of their own. And let’s not forget the moments when the whole screen goes white, forcing you to refresh and pray that your progress wasn’t deleted. I can only assume that whoever is in charge of fixing bugs at Google either doesn’t exist or spends their time playing solitaire instead of working. Even when it does function (which is rare), Google Slides is painfully slow and limited. It lacks the smooth animations, advanced editing tools, and overall polish of PowerPoint. Want to make a presentation that actually looks professional? Too bad—you’re stuck with clunky transitions and barely any customization. It’s as if Google decided, “Let’s make the most boring, restrictive presentation tool possible and call it a day.” At the end of the day, Google Slides is an embarrassment. It feels like it was designed by lazy developers who don’t care about making a functional product. If they actually used their own app for more than five minutes, they’d realize how atrocious it is. Until they fix it (which they probably never will), I’ll be looking for literally any other option that doesn’t make me want to throw my computer out the window.
