  • There’s still a lot to be done.

It’s missing a lot of fundamental features. For example, how can there be a golden spiral overlay that can’t even be rotated? The export options are extremely basic. It feels like the software was designed to make photo editing easier for casual users — but that’s what “Photos” is for — not for professionals. There are also many things that just aren’t practical to work with; it feels like the people developing it don’t actually use it. They should keep in mind that Lightroom is the standard, and if they really want to compete, they have a long way to go. To put it in perspective, Photomator is to Lightroom what GarageBand is to Logic Pro.
  • Unlike Any Other

Photomator is the perfect combination of functionality and affordability. If offers most of the features and some extras compared to the egregiously priced Adobe alternatives, and it’s so well tied in with the Apple ecosystem—not to mention optimized for Apple Silicon—that i’ve chopped substantial amounts of time off of my workflow. You really can’t go wrong with the powerful and intuitive design of this app. I only miss a few things with Photomator, though; the big one is lens profile corrections!! Many modern lenses rely on digital corrections to eliminate vignetting and chromatic aberration/fringing, so it’s something I really miss here. Besides that, fantastic app! Props, guys.
  • It should be free for Apple users.

This app is excellent, and since Apple's acquisition, it should be free for all Apple users.
  • No longer worth it...

It seems like Apple bought this to kill the app and its reputation. It used to be better, not the best but better than it is now. It often crashes specially when editing RAW photos and you lose all edits. If it doesn't crash, the app just gets incredibly slow and heats up your iPad, even on an M2 Pro... I didn't want to but it seems I will sadly have to move back to Lightroom 🫠 Thanks Apple, ya c*nts, for buying this beautiful app just to destroy it.

UPDATE: RIP Photomator. Apple bought you and quietly abandoned you. It hurts since I loved this app UPDATE: Thank you for listening and including AI adjustments with flexible masking. Lightroom is out the door (thankfully) but I’d still love to see some of my previous requests (as listed below) come up the pipeline. Thank you for listening to your user base in the interim. PREVIOUS UPDATE: Firstly, thank you for the inclusion of LUTs in your most recent update. Here are my suggestions for the next batch of updates: AI assisted adjustments. With the click of a button, the user should be able to make adjustments to subject and background separately without having to manually mask out one or the other. (Bonus points if the AI can recognize other items like sky and trees within landscape images) Polarr has already nailed these features but the UI for this app has a much cleaner design so I’d love to never leave this app. The ability to put a simple border around a finished image would be great. Vignette center point should be adjustable as not all images have the same center of focus. (Bonus points if a highlight mask could be included in it to avoid covering every part of the outskirt in darkness thus giving a fake processed feel to the final image.) Adding grain should not be limited to size and intensity. Some grains are softer and some harsher and if the goal is to present realism, then digital grain and film grain styles should be offered. Basic Text features would be of assistance. The Curves panel currently offers a fantastic feature to drag on the screen to precisely adjust the curves panel. This feature is sorely needed on the HSL panel as well. The RAW Power app has already implemented this feature wonderfully and I’d love to see it here. PORTRAIT Adjustment. Basic portrait adjustment is missing and is sorely needed. This app could be a One Stop Shop that would cause new to delete all others from my phone, but as it stands, you’re not there yet even though I desperately want you to be because I truly love this app and I appreciate all the hard work you folks are putting into it. Keep it up!

It’s easy to use and quite powerful. No updates for 5 months even though Tahoe just came out is pretty bad. I have the feeling this will be abandoned by Apple soon.

Works great until the app suddenly crashes and I lost all my edits of the photo. And it crashes very frequently
  • Can’t work offline

I thought I found a RAW photo editing app that I could replace Adobe with. I purchased Photomator, and cannot edit my photos offline. Seriously? This is how I stop using your app.
  • Amazing almost pro

Amazing program, almost pro level. It’d loose stars for slow raw support. Still waiting on raw support for a new camera.
  • Could be 4-1/2 stars

This app offers almost everything I want in a post processing app (a chromatic aberration specific edit and lens correction would sure be nice!). It’s too bad this app is so unstable. It frequently crashes before saving. If more than two masks are performed it runs so slow that it is useless to use: images freeze, sliders have incredible lag for adjustments, moving from edit mode to crop (or any other mode) doesn’t work or has terrible lag. Denoise and Super Resolution are great offerings but fail to work about 30% of the time. I have deleted and reinstalled this app several times to no avail. I want to make this my go to editor even though it’s missing the two features mentioned earlier and the brush is not intuitive (has to be exact; it won’t recognize subject for editing in mask nor object removal in healing). I have used this app daily for six weeks hoping for better performance but have not found a way to achieve it. I will be looking for another non-adobe solution and recommend you do as well.
