  • No Beat Sequencer

I like Garageband, and I've been using it for a while, but there are some things that I'd like to point out. It's not very intuitive, I keep having to look things up to find them on my Mac. Second, on iOS GarageBand, there is a beat sequencer that helps you create drum loops, but on MacOS, it has been removed. It seems like it would be a relatively simple thing to transfer over, so why don't they? The only other alternative is to play the drums on the musical keyboard but playing drums on a keyboard is so much harder than just adding the elements I want and it looping for me.

I really enjoy using GarageBand and spend a lot of time making music with it. It’s an approachable, creative app that makes songwriting feel fun instead of overwhelming. That said, I’ve noticed that some features—especially Live Loops—feel more intuitive and fully realized on iPhone and iPad than on Mac. While Live Loops does exist on Mac, the grid-based workflow on iOS feels easier to use and more inspiring when building songs from loops. I’d love to see the Mac version get the same level of Live Loops functionality and creative flexibility as iOS, while still keeping the powerful tools GarageBand on Mac already has. Having that consistency across platforms would make the experience even better. Thanks for continuing to develop such a creative tool.

Come on Apple. This is a dated app that needs AI to make it function better. Ok for 10 years ago, but excessively cumbersome and not user-friendly.
  • Great for all sorts of recordings

It’s great, but one thing I need is for you to change the app icon for macOS to match Liquid Glass on macOS Tahoe, along with iMovie. I do believe you’ve done this already for the iOS and iPadOS versions of GarageBand.

I’ll admit, this is a lot better than I once thought. It has a simple design, ample plugins, and it’s overall a great DAW for beginners. The one thing I request though is fixing the AU Sampler a bit. For the most part, it works great, but there are times where I make custom instruments myself OR use an sf2. file (for DLS) I find online. The problem is, when I exit the project for a while and get back on, the instruments I made myself are reverted back to before I added custom sounds, as if they were never changed at all. Just fix this one bug, and I’ll be good. Again, I find this DAW to be great and expect the next update to be great as well. Thanks in advance.
