  • Such a fast, intuitive program, especially with M chip Macs!

By Awesome, esp. with M1 Macs!
I’ve been a Final Cut user for years, and have always considered it the easiest, most intuitive editing program. I teach editing at the college level and FCP is so much easier for students to learn than Premiere or Resolve. I just bought a MacBook Pro with an M1 chip and that makes it even faster and better. The new auto subtitle feature is amazing—I just subtitled a five minute long tutorial video I made and it took about 15 seconds. The subtitles were perfect too! The 5 minute subtitled video exported in less than one minute too. My laptop is not even warm. Wow, what brilliant engineering!

It has some cool features I’m not used to, but it devoured my disk space just from editing a video. 600 GB for a 20 minute video that was 3 GB. Then the thing exports at like 720.

  • New MacBook Pro crashes with FCP every time

Everything worked flawlessly for the first three weeks with this brand-new Mac — until Final Cut Pro suddenly began crashing every time I opened it. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but the issue persisted. I contacted AppleCare, and while their support team was helpful and knowledgeable, they ultimately couldn’t provide a clear fix beyond suggesting that one of my project files might be corrupted. After reading the other reviews I realize it’s not just me having these issues. APPLE FIX THIS BECAUSE THERE ARE A-LOT OF US CANT WORK BECAUSE FCP CRASHES! Now, after three weeks of editing, I’m facing the unfortunate reality of having to rebuild the entire project from scratch. I only started using this program this month as it’s been Primer Pro for the past 20 years, but these unexpected crashes — especially with no third-party plugins involved — are incredibly frustrating.Apple not being able to fix this issue with all the resources it has is LAZY! This could have easily been a five-star review if I didn’t have to redo all of my work.
