  • Garmin ruined a good thing

Navionics was a great app and webapp to prepare for a fishing trip. Worked flawlessly and even had regular updates. Garmin takes over and raises the app price from $15 to $50, and all we get is a failing app and an abandoned webapp that won’t even load. This is truly upsetting.
  • Battery Killer

I don’t know what they have done but this app is largely unusable now. I used to use it to log sails and it could go all day. Now it drains the battery in a couple hours even when not tracking, and the phone is hot the whole time. Used to be a great app.
  • Bait and switch

Have to love spending years marking spots in an app for a set price only for it to then increase by over 200% in cost. Fairly certain I bought the subscription it was a one time cost so glad to know that wasn’t honored at all. Why would you stick around with a company like that?
  • BAIT AND SWITCH - DISHONEST COMPANY

Originally paid a premium for the lifetime maps with lifetime updates. Now they deleted all my maps and requiring me to pay even more money every year for something I already purchased. I want what I already paid hard earned money for. Very dishonest sales tactic. If I paid for a lifetime subscription you should either grandfather that or honor what was promised when I paid that premium rather than change the rules for your own benefit. VERY SHADY DISHONEST COMPANY!!!
  • Took away function

I purchased the app outright as a lifetime purchase and then years later they took away function such as depths and seabed features. Sure move to subscription based but don’t take away functions and don’t anger existing customers. The app is no longer usable now.
  • Changed app and now unusable

I bought this app around 15 years ago and it worked fine up until sometime around the last year. I bought a certain area of maps and now the app has taken that information away and wants me to subscribe monthly to get what I already paid for. Completely unacceptable behavior and probably illegal. Do not support
  • Crushing my battery

I absolutely love using this app on my phone as backup to the charts on the yachts I run. Unfortunately the app has very recently started killing my phone battery at an unprecedented rate. It’s truly crazy how much power the app uses, even compared to something like Google maps that is constantly downloading imagery. All maps are downloaded for Navíonics… WTH is using so much power???
  • Increase the two device limit

Need to use it on three devices. The arbitrary two device limit has caused me not to renew my subscription and use alternate software.
  • Garmin ruined the app

They got their greedy little hands on it the app and it feels sluggish and looks unfinished. It’s not useful for navigation anymore
  • Map was off by about a mile when I was subscribed

I started subscribing for this app years back. I had to stop because when I went on a long distance boat trip depending on this app and found that i was on land according to the map when actually we were about a mile out at sea when compared to all of our google maps on our phones. The parts near my home area are right on point but the area we went that day was totally off. As Garmin owns this now, I tried to reach out to them to see if that issue was resolved. They asked me to fill out a form which was not possible to submit due to the information required by a south east asian country probably was not sufficient. Back then they had Bing map and I am not sure what they have now or if they have resolved the issue as I have not travelled to that same area afterwards.
