I have been a Protonmail Visionary Customer for many years. My loyalty to them comes down to a day close to a decade ago when one of their reps helped me save my account. I’ll never forget not only the kindness of this unknown individual but also just how this proved the sincerity and truthful the company is in their goal of privacy and wanting to make this available to anybody whom desires it. I believe this is one of the extremely few and rare corporations of this world where the employees believe in their product(s) and endeavors. You have our loyalty.

I recently switched over from 1Password to Proton Pass. I’ve been waiting until Pass got enough features to match 1Password and it has largely delivered. There are a few places it still needs improvement to feel as seamless to the user experience as 1Password. For instance, Proton Pass had trouble auto filling the username and password for many sites. 1Password had no issues recognizing all types of websites. Also, a few websites that offered Passkeys, such as Discord and NordVPN, had trouble recognizing Proton Pass and I could not create Passkeys with Proton Pass. The best feature of Proton Pass is definitely the email aliasing, which creates a new email for each login you save. This email is linked to your main email and helps sort out the spam or any compromised email addresses. However, one or two sites did not allow me to use the aliased emails, so I hope in the future Proton Pass can solve this.

I reset my proton password, and I lost access to all my applications and stored passwords in proton pass. I got locked out of everything. I appreciate strong security; however, that security comes at the cost of convenience and functionality. If you lose access to your credentials, then you’re f*cked!

The Proton line of security & privacy-focused products are the best I’ve had the pleasure to use. Everything within their Proton Pass product has been so easy to use. It is well thought out, highly secure, and developed by some of the greatest icons in the industry. You really don’t need to look any further for a password manager, or any of the other products they offer if I may add. I love this company, what they stand for, and how beautifully thought out their products are.

  • Requires an Internet connection

Requires an internet connection to access your passwords, which is unfortunate: What if you have the password for your wifi stored in Proton Pass? You’re now stuck in a catch 22. Every other password manager supports offline decryption. This is bananas.

I’ve been using 1password for years, but recently started using protonmail and thought I’d try out their password manager. Issues: - The app suggests I can only use legacy login credentials, and suggests I upgrade. - Upgrade doesn’t work in the popup, and suggests I try in the app. - Upgrade doesn’t work in the app. - I already have a full upgrade, so none of this should be happening. - Not e2e encrypted. Credentials are saved on proton servers along with your account. This is a nice convenience at the cost of security.
