  • Not feasible for productivity

If all you want to do is scroll through images or open a file at a time, you’ll be fine. But as someone using an iPad for blogging, the Proton Drive app requires a special kind of patience. You can’t select multiple photos at once and download them, the “Share to” or “Download” option just isn’t there; the “Share to” feature only works when it wants to when working with single files.

I’m canceling my Proton Unlimited plan; Proton recently handed over information to Swiss authorities which then handed information over to FBI.

Feature request: I know you can move files using the “Move to…” function but I want to be able to drag files into folders, or drag folders into other folders in one swift motion. Overall happy with the privacy, encryption, and reliability provided by this app. Just could use some quality of life features like this.
  • Cannot choose what pictures to backup

I tried selecting a few pics to backup but it requires full access to everything and started uploading everything. I do not want that
  • Great. Small audio issue.

Love Proton Drive. But running into a small issue. The audio for videos isn’t working properly for some reason. It’s just muted no matter how high you put the volume. Feel this may be an issue only for the app.
  • To the negative reviews

I sorted negative reviews by Most Recent to see why my favorite cloud storage is being poorly reviewed and realized it’s just user errors after user error. This is an amazing app and service, but you need to be literate 🫠
  • I love Proton - the drive app needs some work

I just recently switched from google photos and drive to proton to keep my data safe. While I love what proton does, the mobile app needs some work still. I anticipate them upgrading features as time goes on so here are some things that need work. I understand why it doesn’t have features that google photo does for searching photos for privacy purposes and that’s fine with me. -I have a large amount of photos stored. While Proton can hold this large amount of data (150gb) the app struggles to keep up. -The scroll by year feature glitched out and the photos take forever to load or scroll -The album names haven’t synced to the computer version, and won’t load the photos in there -The export feature and favorites in the photos themselves is extremely slow -A few photos the metadata is incorrect and showed as being taken the date that they were uploaded instead -A note for the desktop app: I’m not quite sure why you can’t view the photos in there, and have to use the browser -I would like to see a mass select option for deleting photos, right now it’s just individually select and difficult to clear up space -would be nice to search by photo file name as well as document files I do want to note that the browser version keeps up with loading well and I have been using that to clear up space, but I’d like to access photos on my phone as well.

  • Needs Serious Work

I have been using Google Photos and Google Drive for well over a decade. I really wanted to switch to a more secure cloud service, so I was trying to copy all of my saved photos from over the years, a little at a time, to Proton Drive. However, it doesn’t read them in order whatsoever, so all of my photos from over the years were just a big jumbled mess. And it doesn’t recognize all file types yet, either. Maybe in a few more updates it will be improved. But for now, it doesn’t suit my needs.
