Folder Sync Pro

Software in general these days do not provide manuals. I can not find any help for this app. I have a couple of questions.

Does a great job finding duplicate folders, but lacks the ability to save results. When comparing very large file structures, it took all night, took a very short time to sync, then automatically started the 8-hr sync process again with no indication of what was fixed, what wasn't, and what the historical state looked like. I now have to wait another day to see if it actually worked, rather than it giving me the ability to spot check on my own. Thanks. Also should have check boxes for which files to tranfer rather than a right click.

I was hesitant at first to pay for this, but I'm glad I did. This utility works quickly (in "Modified-date" mode) and correctly.

I had a situation with possible corruption or deletion of a large number of files. I had a backup, but I didn't want to do a total replacement since I knew some source files had legitimately been changed since the backup was made. I was looking at a very time-intensive task to clean everything up until I discovered this app. I used it to scan the source and backup folders. It clearly showed which files were different, giving me an option to sync in either direction or bidirectionaly for each file and/or subfolder. I could not be happier. This app was exactly what I needed and worked perfectly. I highly recommend it!

I use a popular app for Windows called “Beyond Compare.” This is very similar, but much cleaner and easier to use. A real lifesaver when a large folder transfer gets inerrupted. Normally, you’d have to start over since it’s not practical to review hundreds or thousands of files to copy the remainder manually. With this app, you simply run a sync on the two folders, and your transfer picks up where it left off!

With multiple sections of the same course, this keeps everything synced. Thanks!

My first version of this is 2.12 and it works like a charm. I was a little hesitant to choose this app reading some of the reviews of earlier versions. But, I was in a jam and needed an app with this functionality ASAP. So I gave it a try and it worked perfectly. I recomend turning off “Compare File Content” as it will greatly slow down the comparison process. Just having “Compare Modify Date” should be enough for most users like me. Thank you Yong Chen, you helped me to save the day.

When you force me to pay to try a program…with NO chance of a refund... and then I find it to be a load of garbage… You can expect this to be my reaction. A PRO sync app (by definition) should be able to do all of the following basic functions… PLUS something advanced… or else it simply isn’t a PRO app. It is a LITE app pretending to be something it is not. Such is the case with Folder Sync Pro. Minus 1 star for each of these unforgiveable mistakes/omissions. WHAT?!? Evidently, you must terminate the program in order to start a new sync task. Is it SO much trouble to put a “new task” menu selection or button? (This was my first clue that I had made a bad purchase.) There is no task management at all. So, you have to redefine your sync task each time you need to do it. This app cannot monitor folders and automatically sync changed, added, or deleted files. This marks it as LITE, and defintely NOT a PRO app. This is a very basic app with some cute GUI ideas. There is nothing PRO about it. Minus another star for not having a lite version to try… before you buy. But, in the case of this app, that would probably be app-suicide as no one would choose this over the “other” app for 2 bucks more….if they could try it first. I feel like such an idiot for buying this just to save 2 freekin bucks.

Dear, I bought the Pro version Folder Sync I noticed the lack of some basic features: 1 - Show only the files with differences, only files what will be synchronized. when you list all the files of the the directory the user has need to be checking the in all list of what files will be synchronized. It would be interesting to have an option to filter the display of all files or filter only the files to be synchronized. 2 - Also missing is the option to show the total size of the files to be synchronized, thus allowing to analyze the target disk has enough space to store all the files that will be transferred space. Original written in Portuguese. ======================== Estimados, comprei a versão Folder Sync Pro. Percebi a falta de algumas funcionalidades básicas: 1 - Mostrar somente as diferenças, ou seja, o que sera sincronizado. Ao mostrar tudo o usuário tem que ficar verificando a lista do que sera sincronizado. Seria interessante ter uma opção para filtrar a apresentação de todos os arquivos ou somente os que serão sincronizados. 2 - Falta também a opção de mostrar o tamanho total dos arquivos que serão sincronizados, permitindo assim analisar se o disco de destino tem espaço suficiente para armazenar todos os arquivos que serão transferidos. Just installed Folder Sync Pro on my iMac, which had to have the hard drive reformatted and 10.7.5 re-installed. I was trying to put some needed files back onto the hard drive from a USB external hard drive. FSP installed easily and starts up very fast. I have two beefs with it--it does what it says it will do, but takes a LOOOOOONG time to do so. I had created a movie folder on my iMac and had placed a few files on it. I booted the external drive and wanted to make sure I had everything. The folder has about 22Gb of data, so I set it up and let it go. Should it take over 3 hours to sync that much data? I realized USB isn't Firewire, but it still seemed to take forever. My second beef is that for MY installation, FPS won't quit. I have to do a Force Quit on it every time I use it. That's really annoying. I think the idea is great, it's very easy to configure, and it does exactly what you tell it to do. Except quit.
