Great app to clean up the screen view and help with focusing on the task at hand. Easy to switch on and off with a keyboard shortcut. I would like to see menu bar icon that will show what state Hides is in, for example Focus Mode Enabled / Didabled.

This app is a must for me. Great job! Please add configurable multiple monitor support with the option to hide apps only on one of them. Thanks!

Create a distraction-free desktop/work environment to help you focus on your task; set keyboard short cuts to enable and disable the single-app mode or instantly hide the currently active app— it’s simple and fast, and has a small footprint. Highly recommended.

Hides is an awesome simple App. I am an old Mac Guy since March of 1984 and as the mac OS progressed I think it was Finder Rev 8 “Command Tab” Would hide the app you were in and auto switch to full screen of the next App. It’s back and al souped up for ElCaptain. Awesome App have used it since 2013. Simple and effective.
  • Good but a few ideas...

Hides is good. It’s competent, does what it says and isn’t a resource hog. I like and use it. I’d love to see the following added: - make the menubar icon a button rather than a pulldown menu. Clicking and holding down the icon and aiming for the Hide All Apps item slows me down and is tedious. I know there is a keyboard equivelent but I prefer my mouse. At the very least, the “Hide All Apps” selector should be at the very top of the menu. If it were a button an alt-click would open the regular menu. - I’d love to see the option for window transitions to have a fade effect - I’d like to see this hide desktop icons, similar to Camouflage

Great piece of software. With the 1.1 update Single Application Mode is now available and works whether the user opens an application from the dock or from the Applications or Utilities folders. This is a great improvement on Apple's implementation which only works if the dock is used. "Hides" implementation of Single Application Mode is smooth and quick. The nice thing about Single Application Mode is that the user gets to keep a clean working desktop yet it can be turned off by a quick trip to the menu bar if needed. Another quick trip to the menu bar turns it on again. Or, a hot key can be set up. This is the second piece of software I have purchased from Russell Gray, the first being Cookie, the best cookie manager out there. To top it off the support is among the best I've encountered. Keep up the great work.

I so wanted this to work. And it did. About 80% of the time, which is why I rated it with 80% of the stars. I'll keep my eye on this for an update and will re-install if one surfaces.
