Description

Minim is a not just a script blocker, but so much more! Minim is an advanced content blocker designed to help you completely customize your browsing experience. With its powerful rule based blocking syntax, you can easily create rules to browse just the way you like. For example, you could create a rule to block Javascript across all websites, but allow it on a select few. You could also create other rules to block all data from a group of ad tracking websites. Minim is integrated right into Safari as an extension and built using the latest macOS technologies to be fast, and does not degrade your browsing experience. In fact it enhances your internet, as everything you decide to block is not just hidden (like javascript based blockers) - but is actually blocked from downloading at all. This has the effect of speeding up your browsing by avoiding the downloading of junk data. Why use Minim? Many websites utilize third party tracking scripts, these can be easily blocked with Minim - just disable third party scripts and you have instantly taken back some of your privacy. Another potential issue is page bloat. Many sites on the internet will download data an order of magnitude larger than the content you want. For those of you on slow connections or limited data plans this can severely degrade your browsing experience - even cost you money. Minim Features -Powerful "Regex like" syntax for url matching -Block a wide variety of data types -Global and individual rule enabling/disabling -Easy to understand UI -Export/Import rules -Handy Safari contextual menu options -iCloud support -Notifications

I was looking for an extension that would allow me to block annoying videos that would automatically play in the background on news sites but I didn’t want to go through the hassle of having to whitelist all the websites where I don’t want videos and images to be blocked. What makes this extension great is that you can choose to use the blacklist feature instead of the whitelist feature by unchecking “Block all sites except those on whitelist” in the preferences of the app. It’s exactly what I’ve needed. I’m running High Sierra so I can’t confirm if this works well on Mojave or Catalina but other than that, this has been useful.
  • worked on High Sierra but doesn't on Mojave
