  • Very limited, basically only good for vocabulary

I was really hopeful for this app. I have pretty decent vocabulary and grammar knowledge with Hungarian and I want to be able to practice. The voice practicing forces asl response rather than allowing me to try something new. For example the prompt was what sport do you like, and it gave me some options to say back, such as I like to play tennis. I said én kosarlabdazni szeretek, I like to play basketball and it marked it wrong. Also I’m a hands free exercise it requested for me to say the sun is yellow. “A nap sárga” Hungarian doesn’t have word order though, so “Sárga a nap.” Should be relevant as well, but was marked wrong. Why would I pay money to repeat canned responses?

It’s easy to use and I have learned a lot! I definitely recommend this language app! I do wish they would add more new words/phrases and content. I have been using the app for so long there is nothing new for me to learn.

I enjoy learning languages very much, alternating with your App, on the computer and VR systems. Please consider adding the Hebrew daily lesson on the VR option.

3/3/26: I tried the conversation lesson again and I can't finish it. My Japanese pronunciation is fine but the app is hearing in katakana, not hiragana and kanji. How the heck can I speak Japanese in hiragana and kanji?!? New issue 3/2/26: The conversation lessons are good but take a long time and are a little tedious. Any chance you could remove the repeated dialog? The way it is now takes away the realness of the conversation to have each line repeated after I say it. Previous issue: the app asks me to translate "where is the museum" into Japanese but the kanji the app showed me on a previous screen for museum is not showing as an option. I quickly looked up "museum" on the imiwa app and found that the kanji for "art museum" was available. Very confusing to switch types of something without telling us. The new weekly quiz is not good. It sometimes fails to understand me when I am speaking Japanese (I've been studying for years so I know my accent isn't this bad) and when I am clueless with a sentence rather than letting me try again, it breaks the sentence down into chunks that don't make sense and it doesn't understand what I am saying all the time. This feature needs to be a LOT better at understanding (at least Japanese) and at interacting with the user before it will work well. Currently it is not a good experience. The way this app is structured allows me to actually enjoy learning unlike most other apps I've used. However, I've been studying Japanese off and on for a over a decade and introducing kanji without explanation is not super helpful. Every Japanese class I've taken takes its time to introduce each one and also teaches how to write them (this is true for most apps I've tried, too). The other thing that bugs me about this app is that it looks like AI is used for at least the images if not more. AI takes content and jobs from humans and is also becoming a major contributor to pollution, water scarcity, and climate change. Do an internet search for Kate Crawford to learn more.
