I have been looking for something to replace the major editors. This has been a really great tool so far and look forward to the full feature set once I get my eGPU replaced and buy the full software suite.

Ay lowkey y’all got ya mans editing like a pro using a FREE APP. This is a big W in my books, cuz even in the free version, there’s BIG premiums for just an editing apps, such as color editing. QUICK TIP TO ALL OTHER APPS THAT LOCK PREMIUMS BEHIND A PAYWALL: instead of getting rid of features on the free version to make the paid version even better, you ADD to the paid software, maybe add a teaser version or a limited version of the feature in order to have an audience at least. Anyways, rant aside, THANKS WAY TOO MUCH BLACKMAGIC!!!
  • Premiere Pro to DaVinci

After 1 year of using Premiere Pro I gave the Free version Davinci a try. This program runs more smoothly than Premiere Pro and for my simple use case of clipping video, adjusting colors, adding titles and adjusting sound, I can operate more smoothly than my Premiere Pro.

Amazing piece of free software (I don’t use the pro version yet, hopefully someday!!) for small content creators. Great tutorials online make this a breeze to pickup as well. We love this for all the needs of our new channel (2 months in)
  • Why so many steps

I can’t just drag and drop photos from my photos app I need to download them to my files then grant DaVanci access then I can import them. SOOO many unnecessary steps and a waste of my storage thus another step to have to go back and delete them all when I am done so they aren’t in my files and my photos app.

Yes it is the free version but the application should work. Countless bugs and no access to support because we're not paying customers. Really dissapointing customer service for such a "widely adopted" software. Better off using an alternative free application or paying for a different program.

  • Technically Unusable

I must say that I have rather negative experiences with the current version of DaVinci Resolve, being DaVinci Resolve 20. When working with a video file added to the Timeline, when I switch from DaVinci Resolve to some other app and then back to DaVinci Resolve, DaVinci Resolve freezes for even about a minute or more, which can be told from the fact that the menu bar doesn’t slide out when moving the mouse pointer to it (as I work on Mac Mini Pro with the M2 chip and the Neural Engine from 2023, it cannot be said that my computer is too slow to handle Da Vinci Resolve 20). Moreover, what I can also share with you about is the horrendously terrible job DaVinci Resolve 20 did exporting the input MKV video file I fed to it to an output MKV video file after editing. While the input MKV video file would play back without any issues in the VLC Media Player app, when the output MKV video file was played back in the VLC Media Player app, at first there would be only the audio track that could be heard, and there would be no video track played back/visible whatsoever. When I fast forwarded the video playback at any point/time, the video track (i.e. the animate video image itself) could be seen, but there would be no audio played back/no audio that could be heard. Even when the video track was made to be visible by fast forwarding/rewinding, fast forwarding/rewinding to any playback point other than the very beginning (the "00:00:00" playback timestamp point in most media players), no audio would be played back/could be heard. When from any other later point of playback I rewinded all the way back to the "00:00:00" playback timestamp point, the audio track began to be played back from the very beginning of the video file but the video track video image would freeze at the frame at which the playhead was when I started rewinding to the very beginning of the video file. Since the audio track would be played back/could be heard only when the video file in question was played back from the very beginning, this suggests that the information about the video file, its tracks was stored at that very beginning of that video file, even though the video track itself would not play back properly when that video file was played back from its very beginning. An error of lesser nuisance than the fact that the output MKV video file could not be played back properly was that although in the export settings the exported MKV output video file was set to have the same video image resolution as the project (which from the logical point of view would have to be the same video image resolution as the video image resolution of the input MKV video file, in this particular case being 640 by 480 pixels), for some reason the actual image of the video itself occupied less space, thus looking smaller than in the input MKV video file, being surrounded by a black area all around, which does not happen when the original/input MKV video file was/is played back in the FullScreen Mode. Due to the errors described (although I cannot say whether or not exporting input video files to video file formats other than the MKV video file format those exported video files are corrupt the same way because I am not using DaVinci Resolve 20 to work with any other video files now), DaVinci Resolve 20 is not usable for now.

This app is a free, and profectional editing app. Just needs a little bit more polishing, and it would be perfect.
