  • Suggestion for Widget

Hi. Love the app. Please allow word definition visible on the small widget, not just the medium widget. Lots of wasted space on the small widget. Thank you!
  • Med terms online, but not on App?

I paid $10 for this app and it doesn't provide medical terms that it does on the website site. The Dictionary Plus was my all time favorite, but when they got rid of it I needed a promising backup. I thought Mariam-Webster would be the one. Guess Not!
  • Digital Dictionary, Feels Physical

One complaint people - myself included! - often have is that digital isn’t as good as on-paper. And I think that 99.99% of the time, it’s true. Not so with this app! This version of Merriam-Webster actually lets you simply browse through the dictionary if you want. It has a pane that lists the words and letter tabs, like a physical dictionary. It’s like opening up a dictionary and flipping through it aimlessly, or maybe hunting down that one word you’re trying to remember. Do I miss the feel of the paper? Well, yes; in that regard, the app isn’t the same and can’t be. But the app’s very ethos - the app’s design and purpose - is spot-on. The extra features like bookmarks, thesaurus, word of the day, and vocab-boosting or testing games are handy and fun. You can even listen to pronunciation audio. At its core, this is undoubtedly a dictionary app designed for dictionary users. Not just for looking up a word.
  • Paid user, app does not respect users’ attention

This app is bloated with gamification. I pay for a *dictionary*. The first thing I should I should see is “search,” NOT “do you want to play a word game.” Not even dictionaries will respect focused work in 2025.
  • New Challenges

Unless I've missed something, Merriam-Webster Dictionary has significantly expanded its word games and challenges recently, which I've been hoping for.

Very glad for this ad free version of the app! I had the app for years and was super disappointed when I started getting advertisements while trying to learn a new word or refine my understanding of one. SO glad I found this! I’ve tried some other dictionary apps—MEH. None are even close
  • Missing features, app is clunky and needs a UI overhaul.

I would rather pay more for the app, than pay $10 for a half baked one. It’s not even close to an actual dictionary. Also it’s missing features that a digital dictionary could have. Feels like a first iteration of an app.
  • Add a spelling bee to it. Have it so you can go to and it will ask you to spell a word (in audio).
