Description

Endurance is a free tool to benchmark battery life as well as run CPU stress tests. To test battery life, it's as simple as clicking the start button and waiting until the battery has depleted to zero percent. Once that occurs, the total time that the Mac lasted will be available along with all the details in a handy CSV log file. For testing the thermal limits of the CPU, again, it's as simple as choosing the number of cores to test (which is preset to the max number) and clicking test. The CPU will run at as close to 100% capacity as possible, which will provide an easy way to test how hot it gets and if the fans are working properly. No more opening up Terminal, typing in cryptic commands, or trying to find outdated apps to test the CPU, just use the free Endurance app! There's no cost for Endurance. No purchase, no in-app purchase and no ads. We wanted to make a simple to use utility that was useful to the Mac community at large, for everyone to use. It's compatible with both Intel and Apple Silicon architectures so it's ready for all current and future Mac models.

It is an interesting app that does EXACTLY what the description reads. Yes, it is free. Yes, it works as described. It could use a bit better instructions though... It took me a second run to understand that any kind of results would only be provided if I marked the "Continuously log results" box, with the corresponding location for the log file to be written to. But since I use iStats to monitor CPU usage/frequency/temperature already, I could see what was going on that way. Come to think of it, perhaps they could include that in the GUI as well... But hey, it's completely FREE! Side note: It's incredible how stable and cool the Xeon 8 Core in the iMac Pro (2017) runs... Even under full load for extended periods of time!

No indication of how long a test will run. I let the test run for 10 minutes of maxed out CPU usage and was provided with no indication of when the test would complete or how well it was doing. No results provided after I stopped it, even though it indicated they would be provided in the "Endurance Results" folder. So basically, I just heated up my CPUs to their max for 10 minutes for no reason. Thanks Turnbelly for simply stressing out my computer for nothing.

Good app to stress test your mac. Very useful if you want to drain your battery! Works perfectly on Apple Silicone M1
