It helped me with my gratitude journal, general journaling, and the like. It’s fast and has more features than the Apple Journal.
  • Sound core functionality

The core functionality of Day One cannot be questioned: the app makes it easy to journal and the easy sync means you don't question whether your ideas and memories have been captured. That noted, the app still have functionality to achieve: customizable style sheets is something users regularly request — this is simply a conversion of markdown to HTML, after all. It's also the case that I would like markdown to stay markdown and not get turned into whatever DayOne imagines. This would make links and other elements more readily editable. (See Typora for an example of an app that does this incredibly well.) Better handling of markdown should also lead to better export options. There's no reason why one shouldn't be able to export to HTML and then into a Word document to create a print version of a year's worth of entries.

Disappointed with the lack of collaboration with META/Instagram. Why no integration with Facebook? I know it’s a META company, but other journals sync with FB. Thanks for the lame response of a quoted ‘bot. I paid for this product based on the ability to sync with other apps. It seems your company would continue to work with META to establish this collaboration. At this point, I wasted money. I can now use a basic journal.

Intuitive and easy to use for daily life! The folder system makes saving thoughts, recipes, inspiration, craft ideas, work tasks, food logs - anything you can think of. It's always available and easy to search. I don't know what I'd do without it!

A few years ago when I began traveling for extended periods of time and couldn't carry my bulky paper journals anymore a new friend recommended Day One. I've used it ever since. It's also helped me let go of social media posting for "memories" as I now have my reminded of photos and memories inside my journal. I love looking at all the geographical locaitons I've made entries. This is definitely one of my favorite aps.

My first Day One entry is Feb 4 2012. I’ve used it almost daily for over a decade. I now use it to jot down my dreams daily, and on and off to capture key states of mind and work through decisions, questions, and confusions in writing. Because it lives on all my devices and in my browser, this is seamless. I still keep a paper journal. I only wish handwriting experience was on par with Apple notes. I love writing by hand on iPad mini with a paper-feel screen protector, but to save those notes in Day One I have to first export them as an image and then import to Day One. Finally, I love the simplicity of Day One. IMO it’s critical for any journaling experience to feel absolutely seamless. Day One does this, while still protecting my data.

35$ a year for a journaling app? Goodness, no thank you.
  • Multi Device

I’m very impressed with the App. Its ease of use and look is very welcoming. I do have the occasional and rare crash, but I am unable to repeat the situation where it occurs, and it has only happened twice. I am VERY happy about the Journaling option being multi device. Apple’s journal app is useful, but not on the MACOS, or desktop. As some apps are. If Apple figures this out, there may be a competition issue, but like other apps, I’m sure Day one will figure out how to stay a step ahead. Thanks!
