  • Poor Company and Business Practices

    I purchased this app a long time ago so that I wouldn’t have to deal with advertising. Now they have changed their terms and make you pay monthly or annually to avoid advertising or to get the same service you once purchased. Poor company and business practices! I would like a refund on my original purchase because I never would’ve purchased their product if this was going to be the terms of their service. Waste of money.

  • Ok, not sure what version of the OED it actually is

    I often find that words listed in OED are not included in this dictionary. I understood it to be essentially all the words, just without all the etymological discussion and histories, and perhaps just the most common definitions. But it absolutely does not have words it should have. This confuses me, since I assumed it would be a direct dump from an OED database. So an immediate example that’s prompting this review, and there have been many others, is “overmorrow.” It’s not in this dictionary, but googling takes me to the free OED where the word is readily accessed.

    I paid for the full version a few years ago, and now they want $40 for the full version, leaving me with the free version again. That's not right at all.

    When I first bought this app years ago, it was great. I liked the audio pronunciations of words and lack of ads for an app that did not cost a lot. The audio pronunciations and lack of ads now require a subscription. I think it would have been nice to grandfather people’s paid benefits to match what they paid for when they bought the app.

  • Not the best dictionary choice

    MW is $5 a year vs $40 a year for this app and you don’t even get access to any of the best features from the OED online. Also when you start typing a word in and then it pops up in the list below, often when you click on it will for some reason auto-finish typing in a different word. Also I’m pretty sure their “word of the day” is just purely random so you get mostly uninteresting words. Today’s is “weirdly,” awesome, so cool.
