Description

Have you already downloaded Zwift? If so, you’re in the right place—Zwift Companion makes Zwifting better. It’s like a remote control for Zwift that you can use pre-ride, during your ride, and post-ride. Zwift Companion is a great place to plan your next activity. With all the events in one place and thousands to choose from, you're sure to discover like-minded athletes who want to get fit together. You can also find and join clubs on Zwift Companion. You'll see rides chosen specifically for you based on your preferences, fitness level, and upcoming events. You can even set reminders, so you're never late for a ride. You'll also find a bunch of cool information on Zwift Companion's home screen, like the number of people currently Zwifting, as well as any friends or contacts you're following. Have Zwift equipment? You can also update the firmware with the Companion app. DURING YOUR RIDE With Zwift Companion, you can send RideOns, text with other Zwifters, bang U-Turns, choose between route options, and more. You can also adjust the resistance of your trainer on the fly during structured workouts, to increase or decrease intensity. Want to turn erg mode on or off, take screenshots, or see riders nearby and their stats? All of this happens on Zwift Companion. POST-RIDE Take a deep dive into your ride data and the folks you rode with. You can also check in on your progress for any Tours you’re participating in and the goals you set for yourself. • 2 apps, seriously?

Even if this was a free app needing 2 apps is ridiculous, I should be able to see my past rides and stats in the main app. Then considering the 20 a month they charge, they obviously aren’t spending that on engineers.
  • Works well alongside the main app

No complaints, long time Apple TV user. Switched over to a Mac mini recently and still find this app helpful.

Sometimes I catch myself leaning into the turns! Highly recommend.
  • Need to make Stats & Recommendations optional

No joke: You could run a marathon and perform 1 rep max lifts on the same day, and this app would call you “Fresh” and recommend an anaerobic workout, because it’s ignorant of other efforts. Helpful for finding events and route planning but awful for fitness & readiness. Unfortunately fitness & readiness are being placed front and center with no option for turning off.
  • Could use some UX improvements

Please get rid of this “up next” thing. It’s useless and in the way. —— The app does what it’s supposed to do, but there are a few things that should be improved: 1. Do yourself a favor and go to the iOS settings app, open the settings for “Companion”, and disallow usage of cellular data. Why an app that connects over Bluetooth/WiFi to a local computer needs cellular data is beyond me. But if left on, the app will frustratingly disconnect and reconnect to riding sessions. Some days it’s fine, but other days it’s constantly interrupting. 2. The feature for tossing out several 👍to nearby riders is fun. What isn’t fun is trying to use it while peddling and the app thinks you tried to click on a tiny white dot representing another rider. Who wants to do that? It’s not like you can pick out a specific rider in this way, what with the cluster of tiny dots and the lack of fidelity in a touch interface. Just get rid of this dumb feature or provide a way to turn it off. 3. Finding events at specific times on specific days is an exercise in frustration. First, you simply select a date from a calendar. No, you have to page through each subsequent day until you get to the one you want. Second, the listing for each day starts at 00:00. Uh, thanks, but I’ll be sleeping at that time. Also, find Tour de Zwift events should be much easier. They added a filter, but it’s super wonky and not all intuitive to enable correctly such that it will show those events. As far as I can tell, it’s impossible to show _only_ TDZ events. So after doing the day and time shuffle, you still have to scroll through a multitude of unrelated events. Really, provide a better calendar interface than this nonsense. Other than all of that, it does what I want: shows a good overview of the map while riding, gives a tool for tossing out 👍s, and lets me sign up for TDZ events.
  • Awesome but Apple Ultra3 Watch doesn’t connect!

I have used Zwift for years for biking and running with 3 different Apple Watches successfully over the years. Please fix the issue with Apple Watch connectivity. My month old Apple Ultra 3 Watch will not send heart rate through to Zwift. I have tried everything.

I use Zwift for both running and cycling. What works sometimes for connecting bpm with running works 0% of the time with my cycling setup. So I have a separate system for my cycling setup that works ~60% of the time. If the Companion App (CA)worked as advertised, I’d be able to sync a single Bluetooth BPM sensor to the app and it wouldn’t matter if I’m using an iOS app or a Windows PC. But unfortunately the CA doesn’t work that well. I’ll be spending another couple hundred dollars on devices to try to get this data reliably. Zwift is lucky so many of my friends use it because otherwise I’d just use something else.
  • Does not always connect during rides

I’ve had this app for a year now and it was great in the beginning. It connected to zwift on every ride. However for the past 4-5 months, the app rarely if ever connects during a ride even after troubleshooting per the instructions.
