  • App got worse

Vacation mode for Ecobee 3 used to allow temperatures below 65 degrees. The text still advises setting to at least 60, but limits to 65 or higher. Also, while in vacation mode, it doesn’t clearly say the set temperature and only shows the sensed temperature. I like to see the set temperature, because I set the vacation temp low, then create another for the final day or so at a higher temperature. Not seeing the set temperature makes it harder to know which vacation is active.

  • App can be laggy sometimes

The app sometimes doesn’t register a click but launches that process anyway. If you think it’s unresponsive and you click a button in frustration several times (as one does), it may eventually launch several windows. Otherwise it’s a smooth and simple way to control my thermostat from my phone.
  • Schedule times are limited

Schedule times are only available in 30 minute increments. A smart thermostat should allow ANY time to be used for scheduling.
  • Can’t set schedules

Schedules don’t actually set to the days and times you set. Also you can’t adjust the temperature for the selected time which defeats the purpose of customizing…at least if you can, it’s not intuitive within the schedule function.
  • The single worst app

This is by far the single worst app I have ever used and it’s not close. Nothing is intuitive, the heat sensor won’t save, nothing works correctly the first time. If you have the choice to run away from this product do so, FAST!
  • Last update didn’t help

Still has a mind of its own. No matter what I do the fan either never seems to leave auto mode. Or if I do turn on the fan manual, and select some like 10 minute, it will say it’s going to end at the designated time the won’t. Then I’ll go back into the app and it will show its going to end hours later. The settings in the app thermostat and app are still out of sync. Whatever ecobee did, they need to undo because this is ridiculous.
  • Great Thermostat. Annoying UI

Thermostat works great. A little different to figure out how to make quick changes such as turn fan on for circulation etc

This thermostat is very nice. You can read the temperature whenever you want once you learn how to program it. That is a very nice feature.
