Easy to read and highlight. Opens where you stopped reading, which is good. The problem I have is trying to get back to the table of contents, so it makes it difficult if you want to change to a different chapter.
  • Upgrade ruins Verbum Mobile

Recently Verbum “upgraded” Its configuration making major changes to how the search functions worked. It is a complete disaster. Instead of intuitive stair forward searches based on scripture references or catechism paragraph, the new search function responds by giving a menu of largely meaningless information. I haves used Verbum for 10!years and when I complained to them about it they said I needed training. I just hope and pray they don’t scree up the PC. Person with the same untested software revision.

This app is the best for reading and studying the Bible and all other Catholic commentary and reference material. References and footnotes are linked to source texts if you own them. That means if you are reading the Ignatius Catholic Study Bible, the Catholic Commentary on Sacred Scripture, or any other text that references the Catechism or any other Verbum book you own, you can simply click on the reference and the reference text will pop up; and if you click on the popup, it will take you straight to section of the book from which the reference comes from. This makes it incredibly convenient to access references immediately without having to have the physical source text on a hand to find the reference within. It is immediate with one click. If you have a collection of Church documents and the works of Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, and the other Fathers, when you read the Catechism or any other book that references them, you can click on the reference and those source texts will automatically pop up in the same way. I love these features, and I love this app!

This is a Catholic’s best friend. I have been using Verbum for years as a layman. It has more than I could ever possibly need and I would argue that it has more than most academics will ever even need. It simply is the best alternative to having an entire physical library at your disposal! I will continue to use this in my faith life for its benefits are many.

I like the app, primarily due to the volume and variety of books available. I am not completely on board with the upcoming changes, making it a subscription service, but we will see. Why does the app, or apple prompt me to review the app, when I am typing a note? It makes it impossible to do the review or finish the note. 🤷‍♂️
