Disappointed in the changes to the app, and how much it impacts the selection. I loved this subscription when I found it. I saved a bunch of books as things so I wouldn’t forget what was next to read. A lot of them that were previously available since they are older books are now no longer available without an unlock, and it’s only clear whether an unlock is needed once you click on each title. It makes the app more difficult to use and cost more for less availability. I don’t mind the idea of paying more to get more in demand titles, but the communication about what’s available is poor. I also wasn’t made aware that I needed to change my account to actually access the unlocks, so I missed out on reading lots of books that I could have unlocked, and now previous titles that didn’t require an unlock in my saved books di require an unlock. Really unfortunate experience. I understand that they have to make money, but since we only have the titles temporarily they are saving that way. Would like to see improvement to keep this app since I enjoyed it before the recent updates that were not very clearly communicated. I understand the new changes, but it could have been made clear to users that it was important to update to the new standard plan to have unlocks available. Bummed.
  • Bought Subscription: Fails at Everything Else

I miss the old days where I can buy a subscription and get unlimited books. I just restarted the plus version of the subscription because I was interested in a couple new books. When I bought the subscription, it said I get 3 unlocks. That’s fine, I guess. But what I wasn’t expecting is that the app would register that I bought a subscription but in the UI, it would say I needed a subscription. I was perplexed. I have an email that I paid for the subscription. I have a charge on my card for the subscription. But on the user interface of the app, it tells me I need a subscription to read or listen to the content. So I refreshed… and refreshed… and refreshed. Nothing. Then, I went through the purchasing of the subscription… again… and again. Still NOTHING. It looks like I was scammed out of $16.99 to read/listen to 0 books. Nice job. What I hope for is the tech support is better at answering this review than answering my email. I paid for something and I can’t use it. Nice! 10/10 product UI.

Used to be great, now it’s just like Audible but worse. And they took away all the sheet music.
  • New “Plans” are terrible

I used to subscribe to scribd when they had a decent book selection and unlimited access on their catalogue, which did change periodically but had some good titles and was worth the subscription price. Unfortunately someone came up with the bright idea of switching over to some sort of model trying to copy Audible, using a credit system. The available library has GREATLY SUFFERED, the prices have increased and while with audible you at least own the digital audio copy (to whatever extent), I believe that you do not with Everand. Once you use the one to three “credits” the remaining library is terrible. Everand intentionally makes it very difficult for the user to see that before they pay for a month subscription they should really fix that because it comes off like a scam (which it really is), they do not give you a refund even if you have just ordered, haven’t downloaded anything, see the lame new “not really unlimited” library and want your money back. Library cards people. They are free (there are some great ones you can subscribe to for much less than this app service), and while the selections are not as large (technically), they do have great ebook and audiobook offerings and they are not packed to the gills with library selections that sound like they were written by some cheap computer software with an equally fake looking cover someone dialed in online.

The Everand app has moved 99% of content to a ‘locked’ status. The standard paid version gives one unlock a month, the premium gives three. There’s very little in the ‘unlimited’ (to quote the Princess Bride ‘I do not think it means what you think it means’) book/audiobooks that interests me. Every book I have looked for during the past few months is locked. Some of the books I was in progress of reading or listening to are now locked. An example from today of how poor the unlocked selection is - I looked for books on child development. The results are impressive: 920 audiobooks and over 16000 ebooks. How many are unlocked? Four - and none are about child development.
  • Lost a longtime customer

I used scribed long before it was everand and always loved the platform. However I cancelled my membership for awhile bc I was reading through some audible exclusives. I went to restart my subscription and after I submitted payment it still said I didn’t have a subscription. I reached out to their customer service team and their answer was they’re aware of the problem but don’t have a timeline of when it will be fixed….and the “solution” was to cancel my subscription and request a refund. I’ll give them the points for (hopefully) issuing a refund but I find it ridiculous that you have no answer to my problem and can’t even start the refund process for me??? Just disappointed:(
  • Always Buffering….

If I’ve downloaded the title, why is it always buffering? I have to enable airplane mode and disable WiFi to get titles I’ve already downloaded to play. Here’s a novel idea: If the title has been downloaded, just reference the dang file already on my device and start playing immediately. 🤯
  • Used to love this app

I have been a loyal Scribd/Everand subscriber for many years and have truly loved the app, especially its extensive book selection. It has been an invaluable resource for me, particularly in homeschooling my children. However, the transition to a credit-based system has been a significant downgrade. The availability of truly unlimited books seems almost nonexistent, even for older titles that are essential to our studies. It has become increasingly difficult to identify which books are included in the unlimited selection, and the only way to determine if a book requires a credit is by selecting it individually. It would be incredibly helpful if books that require credits were clearly marked within the browsing list, rather than only upon opening the book’s details. Unfortunately, due to the now limited options, I am seriously considering canceling my subscription and switching to an alternative service like Kindle Unlimited. I sincerely hope these concerns will be addressed, as I have always valued this platform and would love to continue using it.
  • Absolutely not…

Everand is now “Audible” and “Kindle Unlimited”, but ridiculously inane. The titles that you use the “unlocks” on aren’t even yours for the keeping should you unsubscribe…! That is dumb asf… I’m canceling this mess and sticking with the Audible/KindleUnltd. I subbed to Everand (Scribd) due to the initial setup - unlimited reads and listens; I liked that credits weren’t a necessity and a good chunk of what I wanted to read/listen to were available… But alas, the app that was once good is now trash✌️
  • Sad they had to change it.

I have used Scribd/Everand for years and loved it. I paid my subscription and listened to audiobooks daily. Rarely did I find books unavailable. Since the new structure, I rarely find a book that I have searched for, even books I know were there before. And having to “unlock” a book? A great program ruined.
