Description

This App provides a live lightning strike map. Also send notifications of local strikes. Lighting is the most fascinating aspect of the weather. Nothing can beat watching a storm or hearing a loud crack of thunder, waiting for it to come closer. There are 16 million lightning storms each year. The discharge of atmospheric electricity can reach temperatures approaching 30,000 degrees C and travels at 140,000 mph. No wonder they are fascinating to watch! Map locations supported US / Europe / Oceania / Japan. However data coverage mainly in Europe and US. Data with permission from www.blitzortung.org Please don't do anything stupid with this app or the data, Maddisys Ltd will accept no liability if you do.

It would be better if it saved my default location. Refreshing more often would be safer. You can also find any good local webpage and save it to your home page
  • Good to have.

I use Lightning to check for storms before I get on the air. I am a Ham Radio Operator.
  • Waste of time and space.

Poor quality map. It doesn't show lightning strikes ever. Even after 24 hours of thunderstorms. The only way this app will see 5 stars is if it gets 5 reviews.
  • Not enough detail

Poor detail, both visually and specifics about storms. Can't click on a specific storm. Doesn't zoom in very well. No town on the maps. Does not show lightning that is currently right overhead.
  • Doesn't work for USA

Europe works though. Needs a fix.
