Description

AnkiMobile is a mobile companion to Anki®, a powerful, intelligent flashcard program that is free, multi-platform, and open-source. Sales of this app support the development of both the computer and mobile version, which is why the app is priced as a computer application. AnkiMobile was written by the lead developer of Anki and AnkiWeb, and it has been around since 2010. Beware other apps using "Anki" in their name that have sprung up recently - they are not compatible with the rest of the Anki ecosystem, and they offer far fewer features, despite charging expensive subscriptions. Some of AnkiMobile's features include: - A free cloud synchronization service that lets you keep your card content synchronized across multiple mobile and computer devices. This makes it easy to add content on a computer and then study it on your mobile, easily keep your study progress current between an iPhone and iPad, and so on. - The same SM2 and FSRS scheduling algorithms that the computer version of Anki uses, which remind you of material as you're about to forget it. - A flexible interface designed for smooth and efficient study. You can set up AnkiMobile to perform different actions when you tap or swipe on various parts of the screen, and control which actions appear on the tool buttons. - Comprehensive graphs and statistics about your studies. - Support for large card decks - even 100,000+ cards. - If your cards use images or audio clips, the media is stored on your device, so you can study without an internet connection. - A powerful search facility that allows you to find cards that match criteria such as 'tagged high priority, answered in the last ten days and not containing the following words', and automatically place them into a deck to study. - Support for displaying mathematical equations with MathJax, and rendering LaTeX created with the computer version. - Support for adding images drawn with the Apple Pencil to your cards. Please note that AnkiMobile is currently intended as a companion to the computer version of Anki, rather than a complete replacement for it. While AnkiMobile is able to display and schedule your cards in the same way the computer version does, certain changes like modifying note types need to be done with the computer software. Add-ons are not supported, so while you can study image occlusion cards created with the computer version, they can not be created within AnkiMobile. For this reason, please start with the computer version of Anki before you think about buying this app. The cloud synchronization service is optional, and data can also be imported/exported from the app via a USB cable or AirDrop. Like all apps, AnkiMobile can be purchased once and then used on multiple devices in a household using the same Apple ID. Family sharing is also supported (apart from in India). For information on bulk discounts for educational institutions, please see Apple's Volume Purchase Program. absolutely horrible. not worth the $25. i wish i could get a refund for this stupid app. i expected it to be so nice but apparently you can review your flashcards after you learn them. there’s too many settings and too many options. they over complicated the app. i’m extremely disappointed considering i had to spend $25 just to find out it’s POINTLESS

Thank you for all the work you have done.
  • Useless if you have images

Not a single image loads on this and so my close cards and many others are useless. It’s a ridiculous expensive app for it to not even work. I’ve requested a refund.
  • Confusing and time consuming

It takes about 20 YouTube videos to figure out how to do anything on this app. I regret spending money on it. It’s technology from 20 years ago. This app should be banned by apple. HORRIBLE!
  • Update fail

I have always loved Anki, but then I updated the app on my iPhone and I lost over 4,000 images in my cards. I’ve tried so many ways to correct this, and haven’t been able to fix it.. THUMBS WAY DOWN.
  • Best flashcards system hands down

So glad this exists. I purchased it during college some 10 years ago but never took the plunge until this year due to intimidation and not knowing where to start. Now that I have, this has quickly become the only app on my phone that I prioritize opening daily. I would love improvements to the browse feature like a clickable reference that adds filters to the search bar when you select them or at least is just a reference for what you can type yourself. Right now I have some of my common search terms saved as shortcuts and that is pretty serviceable but not ideal. Also, I like that I can import decks straight to the app but the audio always breaks on import to app. I imagine I can probably import to web first and then sync but I rarely use my computer so it’s not what I am likely to do.
  • Fix the browser

You should be able to read all the text in the sort field in the browser. It's hilariously useless to just look at a few characters at the start and end. The ankidroid folks figured this out ages ago.
  • Excellent but missing features on iOS

I really like this app I’ve been using it since 2015. I’ve started using it on iOS in the last year and I still really like it, but I find there are some limitations. Sometimes I get a new deck and it contains a lot of things that I already know, well when I’m reviewing on my iPhone, it would be nice to be able to put a suspend button directly on the card. I can do this with a combination of writing an add-on, and then using custom CSS on the cards if I’m on my PC or android android. It’s impossible on iOS because I can’t call custom Python functions. I also can’t modify the UI in anyway, so I can’t put a suspended button on the review screen. It may not seem like a big deal, but it actually severely interferes with my flow. I don’t like having to open it up on my PC just to suspend cards that I already know.
  • Used it to learn Japanese

This is an outstanding app for learning Japanese and probably anything else that can be divided into topics that fit on a flash card. I used it to supplement Duolingo and Human Japanese for eight months, before my first trip to Japan. I was able to make myself understood in Japanese, and I understood much of what I heard there. I couldn’t have done that Anki. Use shared decks to get started but watch for errors in them. Personalize your deck and it make it own. High recommended and definitely worth the price. Also, use your browser to get over the steep learning curve. It’s worth it.
  • An amazing memorization tool

My favorite way to learn foreign language vocab (and literally any other wrote memorization!)
