Description

Immerse yourself in the world of Dune. Experience the ultimate blend of strategy and intrigue as you navigate the treacherous landscapes of Arrakis in the award-winning board game Dune: Imperium! Battle online, locally with AI, or against the formidable House Hagal. Earn Achievements that showcase your prowess as a leader. Embark on more than a dozen Challenges that will test your wit and cunning. Compete for badges in the rotating Skirmish Mode where no two games are the same! Control the Spice. Control the Universe. Arrakis. Dune. Desert Planet. Raise your banner above the vast wasteland before you. As the Great Houses of the Landsraad marshal their forces and their spies, whom will you influence, and whom will you betray? A tyrannical Emperor. The secretive Bene Gesserit. The shrewd Spacing Guild. The ferocious Fremen of the Deep Desert. The power of the Imperium can be yours, but war is not the only way to claim it. Dune: Imperium blends deck-building and worker placement in a deeply thematic new strategy game where the fate of the Empire hangs on your decisions. Will you seek political allies or rely upon military might? Economic strength or subtle intrigues? A council seat… or a sharpened blade? The cards are dealt. The choice is yours. The Imperium awaits.

The in-app expansion didn’t extend to my other devices. Difficult to play expansion on iPhone as icons are so small and screen often freezes (game has to be closed and restarted).
  • Obtrusive DRM, no local multiplayer

After enjoying Dire Wolf’s implementation of Root, I was really expecting to enjoy Dune: Imperium digital (their original board game and one of my favorites on the table). Unfortunately, there are some serious shortcomings. For one: after purchasing the expansion Rise of Ix, I can only play that expansion while connected to the internet. This is a major disappointment for me because I typically play digital board games on my iPad during long train or plane rides where I am not connected to the internet. Lack of pass-and-play local multiplayer is a big let-down. Every other digitized board game I’ve played has it: Root, Wingspan, Everdell, etc. Not being able to play with a friend In sitting with is pretty lame. I do enjoy the UI of the game and I think the AI opponents are fun to play against. But some assumptions made around how people will play have alienated me.

Don’t get more than a few intrigue cards if you want to be able to see them that is. Does anyone play or test this game?? 😂

This game makes no sense at all. There are symbols and icons all over the place. The tutorial does not provide any help understanding any of this. What is even the strategy here? Just drag cards to places on the board (or are they cards…terminology is not explained). Do some stuff, then press the Reveal button. Drag more stuff around and maybe you win a conflict? But you don’t have to win a conflict to win…huh? Use an Ability…what is an ability? What does it do? Why would I want to use it if I could even find where to select the ability from.
  • Great Game!!
