Description

Willpower is not enough against social media algorithms! That’s why I made one sec: one sec adds friction to distracting apps to make them less appealing…long-term! And it works really well: we have proven in scientific studies with the Max-Planck Institute, with the German and Danish government, and in dozens more scientific collaborations: one sec has incredible effects on your screen time: app usage drops by 57% on average! …just read our App Store reviews or try it for yourself if you don’t believe me (…you should really try it)! How is one sec different from Screen Time limits or app blockers? - one sec DELAYS access to distracting apps instead of blocking apps completely – that’s an important difference psychologically. - This way, we solve the screen time problem at its roots: long-term & sustainably! - one sec is always on, and makes using social media just slightly more annoying…so you’ll end up using it only when you actually have a reason! Which apps can I use with one sec? - You can set up one sec with any app you’d like to use less / more intentional. - Most popular use-cases are: social media, games, video streaming, dating, stock/coin trading, adult content. - Using one sec with one app of your choice if completely free, for more you’ll need to purchase one sec pro (we also need to finance development of our app!). What if I get stuck scrolling? - No worries, one sec offers a Doom Scroll Emergency Brake: We call it Re-Intervention. - After a set time (e.g. 5 minutes) you’ll be kicked out of social media, and you’ll have to go through an intervention again to unlock more time. Where can I learn more about the scientific background of one sec? → https://one-sec.app/research Can I use one sec to interrupt access to websites as well? → Yes, one sec offers a free Safari extension as well. How does one sec work technically? - one sec uses Shortcuts Automation to toggle a deep breath animation whenever you open one of the configured apps (Instagram, Twitter, YouTube…). - This breaks unconscious social media habits short-term (literally, as soon as you have set it up) and even helps long-term by adding more friction when opening these apps. Integrations: - Structured: one sec blocks apps during unfinished tasks. - LENGO: learn vocabulary to unlock social media. I developed one sec for myself in 2020…and it worked so well I decided to upload it to the App Store. Especially for people with ADHD one sec is a great tool to gain back control for incredible focus and concentration. – Frederik Legal information: Available Subscription Options: one sec pro (annual / monthly / lifetime unlock) one sec can contribute mindful moments to the Health App via HealthKit. • Prove me wrong

I downloaded this app after trying Structured and Awake. If it worked, it’d be a perfect complement. But it doesn’t. The app doesn’t connect to Screen Time, and you can’t add apps/sites to be blocked. Developer has a note prompting users to send a report to Apple — that doesn’t work, either. I’d love to be proven wrong about this app, but the lack of recent posts and high scores from over a year ago make me skeptical.

one sec has really helped me. My screen time has gone down from around 2.5 hours to a little bit under 1! It is very impressive that one sec came up with the idea to use an intervention rather than a strict block, that is very different from other competing apps, but I think it is better. It should include a work time where you can freeze all interventions.

I LOVE one sec! I've been using it for at least a couple of years now. The combination of using One Sec and deleting the instagram app has basically changed my life. The best features are: 1. Being able to set time frame blocks for certain apps and websites (so helpful for not scrolling during work hours or late at night!) 2. Being able to set a timer for how many minutes you'd like to spend in the app before another intervention 3. Just making my distracting apps and websites less of a favorable activity (aka more annoying bc I keep getting interrupted!) I would only make one big change to improve this app. Let's use Facebook for example. When you click on Facebook, it immediately runs OneSec and starts an animation such as the screen going dark for several seconds. This is designed to slow you down and help you consider clearly whether you actually want to be opening that app right now. It's meant to prevent mindlessly opening up apps. When the animation is finished, it asks you if you really want to open facebook. Well, you've already waited the several seconds for the animation- you may as well open it! You open facebook. If onesec asked me if I wanted to open it BEFORE the intervention animation started, that would be a game changer. That way it would be a trade: you have to pay to open this app- you can only open it if you wait several boring seconds first. Then if you click yes to continue to the intervention, and then the intervention finishes, it still asks you what your reason for opening the app is and how many minutes you want to spend on there before another intervention. Mane this could be a setting you ca toggle on and off, so if anyone doesn't like that system they can opt out. THEN the app would be perfect. What do we think?

i realized that social media like tiktok, instagram, etc. stress me out like crazy. but they were so addictive i couldn’t stop and i’d end up scrolling for HOURSS. the strict block feature on this app is actually incredible. you physically can’t get passed it unless you delete the app! I’m so much happier off those apps. you guys should promote the block feature way more…it works way better than the breathe before opening the app thing. unless u do promote it and im just blind lol. either or, great app and i would recommend to anybody thats phone addicted. and the block feature is free!!! i could talk about this block feature for hours cant i

This app is useless. All you have to do to turn it off is go to screen time settings. Waste of money
