Description

The Spectator's mission is to entertain, inform, delight and infuriate our readers. From politics to culture, current affairs to reviews, a wide range of topics are intelligently commented on daily and in our monthly magazine. The Spectator was established in 1828 in Britain. In 2018, after a mere 190 years, we launched our US edition, with the goal of bringing the same insight, original thought and writing to an American audience. We hold no party line; our only allegiance is to clarity of thought, elegance of expression and independence of opinion. Our writers opinions range from left to right, their circumstances vary. We do not strive for impartiality — our motto is ‘firm, but unfair’ — but for originality and style. "At last Britain’s foremost periodical, first published 1828, brings the English language to America. Here is the native tongue of wit, learning, and sense — wise rather than wised-up, clever but not too clever by half, and humorous in a way that answers to every humor including blood, phlegm, and bile of diverse colors. Civilized reading for barbarous times." -P.J. O'Rourke on The Spectator "You can go to hell—you and your irrelevant rag." -Sebastian Gorka Features -The Spectator's US edition app is free to download. -Read every issue monthly before it goes on sale. -Download the magazine and read it offline or on the move. -Listen to Spectator podcasts. -Share articles via email, Facebook and Twitter. -Store and access your back issues or store individual articles in your person scrapbook. "A fantastic magazine." -Tucker Carlson "The Spectator US is serious without being earnest, lively without being superficial, au courant without being trendy. You owe it to yourself to subscribe." -Roger Kimball Terms of Use: https://thespectator.com/terms/

  • Great publication, TERRIBLE app!!

I love The Spectator but this app is the PITS! It occasionally shows me a recent article, but mostly it just shows me things from months ago. The “World” page hasn’t updated in over a year!! There’s no “search” option so I can’t look for particular articles. I’ve emailed many times and I’ve been assured they’re re-designing it, and I’ve gone through many steps to try and reset it, but to no avail. I mostly have to use the website to read articles, and that requires logging in each time. It’s very frustrating. Come on, tech team - get it together!

Eloquent well written and informative with a clear understanding of the geopolitical forces at play. A bastion of incisiveness in the discourse of an ever more polarized world

i’m a subscriber trying to use this app on iphone and cannot sign in, the option to sign in takes you nowhere and does absolutely nothing. i miss having an andriod, but somehow i doubt that would fix the issue, which is that this app does not work on its most basic and fundamental level. How hard is it to fix the most important feature in your app???!!!!!

App won’t accept my subscription. Keeps telling me to log in through a one time use email… which I do, to no effect. It’s a good publication but terrible IT.

The app on my iphone doesn’t allow me to login to my account. I get an email access link sent but it never logs me in. Also, I like the articles but the reader comment section is heavily moderated. If you were to post a comment implying that Kissinger or Soros are British assets in response to an article or other reader’s comment, and post links to sourcing, you would find that the comment wouldn’t last more than few minutes before being removed. Implying that either is CIA, and the comment gets a pass. Makes one wonder.

Not off to a good start when it takes ten attempts to sign in before the app finally works. Lots of room for improvement on the simple basics that the app needs to do correctly.

Hey Amber…great reporting as usual! This topic will increase in importance and your submission only reinforces that fact. I read your new book, keep up the great work! Chad (SC Native)

A magazine that restores hope in journalism where varying views with facts can exist.
