Description

Bark Kids is the free child companion app for both Bark and Bark Jr. To use it, you’ll need to have an established Bark account and install Bark Kids on your child’s device. Here are the features this app enables: SCREEN TIME MANAGEMENT Families can set healthy time limits and create schedules for when their children’s devices can connect to the internet (through both cell service and Wi-Fi). WEB FILTERING Our web filter lets you select which websites your child can access on their devices. You can allow or block specific sites — or even whole categories like streaming services, online gaming, sexual content, and more. GPS-POWERED LOCATION TRACKING Bark’s robust location tracking enables you to track your child in real time on a map. You can even find out if they’re stationary, walking, biking, or moving in a car. CHECK-INS Check-Ins are an easy way for families to get peace of mind when their kids are out and about. Rather than sending a "Did you get there?" or "Where are you?" text, you can rely on a GPS-based location confirmation from your children to verify that they've safely arrived at their destinations. It can even give you step-by-step directions via Google Maps so you can meet them where they are if necessary. PERSONAL ACCOUNT CONNECTIONS The Bark Kids app allows kids to connect their own accounts to Bark’s monitoring service (not available with Bark Jr). By allowing them to connect directly to our monitoring service, they get more privacy without having to share their usernames or passwords. HOW BARK KIDS WORKS WITH THE BARK PARENT APP Download the Bark Parent companion app to manage your child’s entire digital world - Monitor texts, apps & social media - Create custom screen time schedules - Block websites & apps - Get insights into online activities - Track location WHAT PARENTS ARE SAYING - "My wife and I LOVE Bark. We've had some tough but productive conversations with our 13-year-old son. It's proving to be extremely valuable." — Josh L. - “It’s just another set of protections we as parents give our kids for the digital environment (or as my 10-year-old calls it, a “cell phone seat belt”). My oldest is a 9th grader, and while I trust her, I’ve come to realize through the alerts that some of her friends aren’t truly her friends. It’s led to some amazing conversations about choosing friends wisely and recognizing toxic people. While she wasn’t for Bark at first, she’s since said she’s grateful that I saw those messages because it reaffirmed what she was feeling but didn’t know how to verbalize without sounding sensitive.” — Bark Parent - "Bark notified me that my young daughter had unknowingly revealed her phone number to strangers on Twitter. The fact that Bark notified me was impressive and led to an informative discussion with her the same day." — Jon B. - “Since Bark alerted us to the suicidal language used in the Google doc that was being used in a chat document with a friend, we have seen both a pediatrician and a licensed counselor. We are hopeful for a positive outcome. Thanks to Bark for letting us peek into our child’s mind!” — Bark Parent - “This app is a lifesaver! It has allowed us to catch so many “red flags” in the content my kids have accessed on their devices and in their interactions with friends and other people online that I wouldn’t have ever known about otherwise. The big difference between Bark and other “Parental Control” software is that Bark allows your kids to have so much more privacy. It doesn’t show you everything they do, but sends an instant alert regarding any activity that might be concerning. Highly recommended!” — Bark Parent With Bark, you can help keep your kids safe both online and in real life. Try it out for seven days absolutely free! Boi I luv this app, I think my child is stupid and doesn’t know anything, I don’t trust them with being able to have a proper to have a phone. I think they can’t have social media because there are “dangerous people” I also installed a screentime schedule so they can’t have fun on their phone too. I love it🥹✌️

I have bark kids on my phone and i’ve had it ever since i’ve had a phone (yes I’m a minor but that shouldn’t take away the validity of my review) I’ve had issues with bark. Not due to the monitoring of reporting me or whatever you want to call it. My problem is that it’s shuts down all my apps. They don’t refresh in the background which can be very very very frustrating. My music only works on what I have downloaded, how can I download songs if I can’t even access the search bar because I’m “offline” listen bark I commend you for your mission to keep kids safe. It is very admirable and it’s something easy for parents to use but please please please make it so i’m able to use my phone. I have to make excuses as to why I cannot search up a song my date wants to listen to I have to make an excuse as to why my phone is slow(I bought a 2025 iphone 16e trying to fix this and the current date is 10-21-2025) The VPN method just doesn’t work. sincerely a teenager trying to live protected while not giving up basic phone usability

So basically I was texting my friend and bark immediately flagged it so my mom thought I was doing something bad but I wasn’t and my mom took my phone for a week. Another thing is if I’m searching up something it sends an immediate report to my mother and I hate that. All in all, I think this app honestly invades children’s/ teenagers privacy thank you for reading.
  • Fix our games

Okay so when I was in six grade I had bark but I got it off in seventh grade and in seventh grade I was able to play online games like among us, stumble guys, ext but now I’m in 8th grade and I got in trouble so I got bark back added to my phone. And now I can’t play a single online game. I just wanna play among us bro. Like bark what is the point of you making us not able to play online games, like that’s up to our parents not you. At least do it for the 13+ plus kids bc I’m 13 and I would like to play with my friends. But anyway bark also always messes up the controls and just every thing in general but mostly online games. This is why I dislike bark. And why they should fix it.

zero stars. this app will make your kids hate you. by father used this app as a part of how he was abusing my brother and i. in 2021 i attempted suicide because of this app. please don't do this to your children. they'll just find ways to get around the filters and my friend and i literally came up with a secret language because of it. this app is also very dangerous to lgbtq individuals, and people who need to report their parents to cps. (of which, i am both.)

Literally the worst app ever? I’m always being watched by my parents and I hate it. From parents perspective it’s awesome but if you’re a teen who just wants to live, it’s not. I wanna make some mistakes, sneak out, head to parks when it’s dark out, go on TikTok and Snapchat and I can’t do any because of this stupid app.
  • changed it for the worse

they changed it so that you can’t check in when you have a screen time limit, even if you have the app in the “always allowed” category in settings. how to fix?
  • Terrible, ruined my phone

My parents installed this on my phone, which I didn’t mind because I don’t have anything to hide. But it totally ruined my phone. It wouldn’t let me listen to music or play on any app. It just refused to let me use anything entirely. My parents even said that they’d never use it again.
  • Just straight up spyware.

Hi, I am a teen who was using bark on his phone, this app was watching what I did 24/7 and I did NOT feel comfortable at all. I couldn’t use social media, I couldn’t use my games, and I had my texts being monitored at all times. THIS EXACT REASON is why I don’t trust bark and why I bought a new phone without bark.
