A PLACE FOR EVERYTHING One of the greatest advantages of Banktivity is bringing all your financial accounts into one place. Our Direct Access service connects to more than 14,000 banks worldwide, automatically delivering your latest transaction to all your macOS/iOS devices. And our set-up assistant imports all your old data and downloads current transactions from your bank account online. THE BIG PICTURE FOR GREATER CONTROL Your financial picture couldn’t be clearer with all of your accounts – checking, savings, credit cards, real estate, mortgages and brokerage – securely connected to Banktivity. And with Banktivity’s “Update Everything” button, you can easily update all your accounts all at once. Sync devices, download Direct Access data, security prices, even currency exchange rates. BUDGETING YOU CAN LIVE (AND SAVE) WITH The best budget is based on reality. And the reality is there are things we have to pay for and things we want to buy. Banktivity’s Envelope Budgeting is built around this belief and lets you assign money to different categories. Recurring bills, day-to-day living expenses and those things we’d like to do or have. And any money not spent in one category carries over into your savings. Banktivity automatically budgets scheduled transactions – bills and paychecks – categorized to your Envelope Budget. And you’ll always know well how you’re tracking with Banktivity’s visually-driven Budget vs. Actual reports. INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT MADE EASY Banktivity’s intuitive investment features helps you better manage stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRAs, 401(k)s, CDs and other assets. You can track buys, sells, splits, dividends, options and more. And Banktivity calculates IRR, ROI, and gains and losses. You can even choose which lots you sold from. Built-in report templates (Income & Expense, Net Worth, Payee Summary and more) dynamically analyze your finances. You can assign tax codes to generate Tax reports or export to TurboTax. Or view holdings in the Portfolio of Investment Summary reports – presented in comprehensive graphics that let you drill down for details, export or print. ON THE GO, IN THE KNOW No matter where you are, you can enter transactions with Banktivity for iPhone. And you can sync accounts, budgets and investments to all your macOS/iOS devices. Should you need help or have questions, we provide unlimited email support, U.S.-based Live Chat (Mon-Fri, 9AM- 4PM EST) for quick solutions. Plus, there’s easily-accessed Help Files, Support Articles, and video tutorials. I so want to love this app. I’ve used Banktivity since it was iBank 2 way back in 2006 on Mac. I really love the reports and the way this app deals with transfers (pretty much the only one that does it right). I also like IGG and like supporting smaller companies. Since I originally wrote this review, the iPad version has added a lot of feature. The account overview pages are fantastic, as are the reports once you get used to them. Viewing things you created on the Mac side is really nice. However… Entering transactions is utterly horrible. The amount is OK, then payee you can type, but entering the category means clicking on the tiny box, and then scrolling through an existing list. There’s no ability to type or even search, and they’re listed alphabetically, so you might have to scroll through 30 categories you don’t need just to find the one you do. It’s also presented flat, so even sub-categories are not separated. No one should have this UX experience in 2025.

The app takes very little effort and it just works fine. I don’t have a complex financial situation but I do use virtually every aspect of the app and it just works. All connections to my Financial Institutions work without issue. I cannot rate the customer service because I think I have only contacted them once in the almost 5 years I have been using the product but they were very responsive and helpful that one time. Banktivity puts Quicken to same.

There are nagging issues with updating stock quotes. There is no way to revert back to the previously saved version of a document as all changes are saved whether you want to or not even if you specify that in Mac Settings. "Save As" does not preserve the previous original file. What this means is that if you make many entries/changes to the document, there is no way to undo them without undoing everything one by one - if you can remember everything you've done. Also, for some reason the file attributes do not hold once a change is made - i.e. hide file extension in "Get Info", And, iCloud Drive is not supported - so be sure to keep your file out of Documents and/or Desktop if you want them backed up with that service. Not sure why all of the above are such issues for Banktivity as all other apps I use do not misbehave this way.

This software has been incredibly helpful and meets many of my needs. Whenever I encounter an issue, the support team is quick to respond and always ready to assist. They're also fantastic at listening to feedback—you can easily submit feature requests if you have ideas for improving the software. The team is collaborative and genuinely works with you to address any concerns. It's clear they’re committed to continuously improving the product. Highly recommend working with them to get the most out of this software!

I’ve been using Banktivity for many years (8) and appreciate how well it functions. I have the app on my Mac and on my iPhone and they sync easily and efficiently. App offers many functions
  • Won’t download

It wont download my transactions, wont download to iPad at all. The spinning wheel of death. On iPhone it just shows four of my 6 accounts. I asked for a refund from Apple and was denied TWICE! Dont do it. That’s an $85 dollar mistake and no recourse.
  • Excellent, but one issue remains (years later!)

I’d appreciate the developer adding support for displaying negative values in the “balance” column of registers IN RED, in addition to have the hyphen/negative symbol. It would make it SO MUCH EASIER to find the entries that bring an account’s balance below zero! Even better, make it so we can turn it on/off (off for credit cards that usually have negative balances) and on (for checking accounts that are usually positive values). Thanks!
