BUDGETING YOU CAN LIVE (AND SAVE) WITH The best budget is based on reality. And the reality is there are things we have to pay for and things we want to buy. Banktivity’s Envelope Budgeting is built around this belief and lets you assign money to different categories. Recurring bills, day-to-day living expenses and those things we’d like to do or have. And any money not spent in one category carries over into your savings. Banktivity automatically budgets scheduled transactions – bills and paychecks – categorized to your Envelope Budget. And you’ll always know well how you’re tracking with Banktivity’s visually-driven Budget vs. Actual reports. INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT MADE EASY Banktivity’s intuitive investment features helps you better manage stocks, bonds, mutual funds, IRAs, 401(k)s, CDs and other assets. Built-in report templates (Income & Expense, Net Worth, Payee Summary and more) dynamically analyze your finances. You can assign tax codes to generate Tax reports or export to TurboTax. Or view holdings in the Portfolio of Investment Summary reports – presented in comprehensive graphics that let you drill down for details, export or print. Update 2/7/2025 Thank you for the developers response. Maybe if you see this you can tell me if I am missing something important on synchronization. I did chat with them. They very quickly lead me thru the process of password. Now when I sign out, it closes all data out. Very nice. Will update again if I decide to purchase. I’m a slow understanding it kinda person. Still trying to figure out if I go from 1 device to another, why it isn’t synced. I have to go into document to update each time if I make new entry. Thought if synced in cloud, then data would be up to date with other device. I always sync before sign out. Maybe, I am not understanding that fully too. Will try to find data on this too. 1st review with 1* I did as said to do. Subscription-manage-lock out on all 3 devices. But on all 3 devices when I open app it shows all my information to the world. I thought if I close/signed out that if I needed to open it would only show where you sign in. But anyone can open the app and our accounts and open each one. How secure is that? Will probably delete it. Still on trial but haven’t found solution besides what I did.

I purchased Banktivity 7 for Mac through the App Store, but when I tried to use it tgoday, it said the program was corrupted and that I had to delete it and redownload it. So I did, directly from the Banktivity website. However, it demands a registration code (which I never recieved, since it was purchased via Apple). When I attempt to "Secure Purchase", it will only look for an older version of the program to upgrade from. Please help.

I wanted to back up the banktivity file, but can find no advice on how to do that. So I guess I have to write my own script to back it up. there is mention in some of the screens about syncing between devices, but I do not know how that is done. Scary stuff. I am setting up from scratch, moving from Quicken after Quicken trashed my database when it installed an “upgrade” So far Banktivity seems easy to learn and use. All the functionality I need is there and easy to find. Except the sync and backup procedures. Not easy to find, but I found them. Backup is manual and is up to me, the user. Cloud sync is scary. The files apparently go to a Banktivity server. I definitely do not trust the server. No problem. I have never had such a sync with Quicken so i will not miss it.

After spending many hours setting up all the accounts it was never able to properly gather my transactions automatically , checking , savings, credit cards, investments… nothing updated properly….a total pain in the butt and a waste of my time….maybe if you have just a few account’s it might be workable …..my solution now is to limit my financial world to just a couple of credit cards and 1 credit union and 1brokerage firm…and mostly do cash transactions. Tracking with pen and paper…..💸💸

I used this since it was ibank. I like the format and features to a point. It used to be easy to update but with increased security, it is harder to use and get to import transactions from banks and brokers. I have called support but they really have not been able to help. There is supposedly a feature that if you correct a downloaded transaction, it will remember this. Apparently my copy has Alzheimer’s. The price has gone up and I have given up on this app
  • Works fine on iPhone, but can’t open it consistently on MacBook!

I so want to love this app. I’ve used Banktivity since it was iBank 2 way back in 2006 on Mac. I really love the reports and the way this app deals with transfers (pretty much the only one that does it right). I also like IGG and like supporting smaller companies. Since I originally wrote this review, the iPad version has added a lot of feature. The account overview pages are fantastic, as are the reports once you get used to them. Viewing things you created on the Mac side is really nice. However… Entering transactions is utterly horrible. The amount is OK, then payee you can type, but entering the category means clicking on the tiny box, and then scrolling through an existing list. There’s no ability to type or even search, and they’re listed alphabetically, so you might have to scroll through 30 categories you don’t need just to find the one you do. It’s also presented flat, so even sub-categories are not separated. No one should have this UX experience in 2025.
