I liked this until recently. I updated my iPhone and it updated the app. Since then, all of the voices have been super robotic and distracting. The enunciation has even shifted. If I could revert back to the version I had before updating, this would easily be a four or five star rating.

I was using this app for school and got tired of only being able to scan a few items a day. I decided to buy the pro version. I waited six hours for it to load and it never did. It just went back to showing that I could buy it and didn’t give me the benefits. I generally don’t like writing bad reviews, but this was very disappointing. And this app can get the job done for smaller tasks, but I do not recommend the pro version.

Used to be amazing because the voices available and ease of use was amazing. Now? The voices they provide (even on the first tier paid version) are worse than robotic. I’d prefer anything (even not reading/listening) compared to “Samantha”.

If you want to hear a bunch of words spelled out by individual letters then you’ll love this reader. Every time the word “the” is read, it is read: “TEE AYCHE EEE”

Was loving this app until they took away the second female voice for English. It didn’t sound robotic and terrible. My last app also did the same thing. Probably will move onto another app,
  • Street Paul and Street Peter

Love this app. I listen to a lot of papers, websites and books that involve sacred theology. Unfortunately the abbreviation, ’St.’ When talking about Saints, uses the word ‘Street’ and the tone of a trailing sentence, with a long pause, before the name of the saint. Makes sense if it is a street name, but not a saint name. It would earn all five stars when it recognizes the difference between Saint Peter and Peter Street.

I’ve tried several reader apps but this one was the best. With several voices to choose from (I like the British ones) and it being a good price (instead of a subscription, it’s a single payment!!), it’s hard not to love it.
