  • Little support and unrealistic macros

    I had trouble with the RP app because the macros were unrealistic. The carbohydrate recommendation was way too high. How high? It recommended I eat five slices of bread in a meal. That’s in addition to fresh veggies and protein. The volume is unrealistic for a small framed woman like myself. I reached out to try and get assistance with adjusting the macros to be more realistic, while maintaining a fat loss strategy, but was sent a series of form messages, which did not address my problems.

    I LOVE this diet app! The diet itself is effective and the app makes it so easy to find and input foods. I especially love that I can transfer macros from one meal to another as I don’t always have time or inclination to get the exact amount

    This app is incredibly user friendly, simple, and straightforward yet effective. It is very easy to track macros and every recommendation has been spot on. At 43 years old, I’m in the best shape of my life, largely due to this app.
  • Bad UI, Bad Library and Logging

    I love Dr Mike so I really wanted to love this app, but honestly it just seems like it needs to be developed a bit more. When logging foods, it doesn’t give you a preview of the macros so you can confirm whether it’s correct before you add the grams. For example, I wanted to add ground chicken from the RP Proteins section, but it only shows the macros once you click “add” - and these macros are wrong because I have 99% lean ground chicken. That’s fine, but when you hit cancel, it takes you all the way out of the meal item selection so you have to start from scratch. Also 99% lean ground chicken isn’t available in the “other proteins” section, you just have to look for brands and then look at the macros there. Which I find odd that the macros are shown for “other proteins” but not “RP Proteins”. I also haven’t been able to figure out a way to edit my meal times across the whole diet rather than per day, which is tedious. It just seems like the app needs a bit of work

    As we all know but don’t like to admit, your diet is the biggest part of your split. This app takes the guess work out of hitting your macro goals, the head ache of what am I going to eat and the hassle of portion control. If you’re looking for a big change in either losing body fat while putting on lean mass or bulking to be a mass monster, this is the app for you.

    Easiest way to track foods that I’ve found. You have to figure out the process first though. Watch Dr Mike’s videos. Also it is really easy for one ingredient foods, which is my jam. I never use the community inputs. They are really off and customized to them. Scanner isn’t great as the database is limited. You can add foods to the scanner but I don’t know what happens to them as they still don’t show up. You can create your own foods and meals though. The AI adjusts according to your progress.

    I tried using this app, but it does wonky things without explanation, you cannot add basic foods, and it is not self-explanatory. I’m sure there are tons of YouTube videos on how to use it, but you should not have to watch any to do so.

    I really thought this would be better and different than most apps. But I find myself spending more time on this thing trying to understand how it works than actually counting my macros. Don’t waste your 20 bucks.
