Contacting support for help is usless as you just get the message "Our support team is dedicated to fixing issues and improving Controller for HomeKit. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of support requests, we can no longer provide personal consultation for HomeKit automation or device setup." Buy at your ownr risk!
  • Great app, great support

Controller makes HomeKit tolerable. There are so many missing features in the native Home app, but with Controller I can actually get HomeKit to do what I need it to do! The support is amazing. I’ve run into a couple of bugs, and the support team has fixed them quickly. Why can’t all app support be like this?
  • Great Tool for the job

I'm going to respond to other reviews indirectly in my review. Tools are best when you use the best tool for the job. Controller is not a tool for viewing HomeKit cameras (it can do that, but maybe a smaller and easier tool would be a better fit if that's what you are looking for). Controller is a tool for diving deep into what HomeKit is doing "under the hood." It gives access to many features which are hidden/inaccessible from the Home.app from Apple. For most people, Home.app will be enough. If you want to create automations based on attributes in your accessories which Home.app doesn't recognize, you need Controller. I develop HomeKit bridges. I need access to features that Home.app doesn't give. I need to backup and restore my large (90 accessories) config frequently. Controller does this very well. I've not tried the workflows. But that looks interesting too. Controller is a great tool, make sure it is the tool for the job you are doing.

I trusted what the advertisement said “we will let you know in plenty of time that your one week trial is expiring so you can cancel it ahead of time” I never got a notice and have been charged for a program I'm not going to use. 😔

Don't pay up front without looking into what the app actually offers!! Doesn't really deliver.
  • Great, except…

Awesome app, and love how much detail and can get out of my HK-compatible third party switches and devices. However, the app can’t talk to or get data from any of my HomePods which are a key component of my system. This is a big limiter.
  • Doesn’t work

The main reason I bought this app was because it allowed me to have multiple triggers in the automations and still be able to convert them to shortcut in the home app. This feature stopped working a week ago. It doesn’t trigger the automation. And there is no way to get support from the devs. I did not find any link way to get help on their website either.

I downloaded installed it, and after that, I could not get my HomeKit to work at all. I’ve tried reinstall I still can’t get it to work. This is a piece of crap. Do not use it. It will mess your whole HomeKit system up.

  • The best companion app for Homekit

I don't write many reviews, but I have been using this app for over a year now after playing around with a bunch of other apps, and this is hands down the best one out there. Prior to writing this review, I read some of the one and two-star reviews, and they seem to be written by people that haven't done their due diligence prior to writing nasty reviews. The least you can do is use the app for a while and do your research before you blast it. One reviewer gave it a one-star review because they thought they were downloading the Home app by Apple. That app is built-in to iOS / iPadOS, and macOS and doesn't require you to go and look for it in the app store! I use the built-in Home app for day to day stuff like viewing the status of my devices, camera feeds etc. For automations, Controller for Homekit allows much more granular control over the behavior of automations. There are notifications that you can use in automations, which is truly awesome! The Homekit backups, logs, and QR code capture alone are worth the price the developer is asking for this app! The tutorials and in-depth instructions are great additions as well. I'm looking forward to what else is in store as this app is developed further. Suggestions: * Add 'repeat-until' logic to the automations somehow. I haven't found a way to do that with any app. * Create an intuitive SOS function so that it's easy for someone to create an automation that blinks their outside lights in an SOS pattern until help arrives. For example: If carbon monoxide detected in Kid's Room, send an alert to all phones, turn on all the lights, turn the TVs off, and blink the outside lights in an SOS pattern. * Add Thread network visibility and troubleshooting. Thread hasn't lived up to the hype yet, so there needs to be some troubleshooting tools out there.
