Works using GPS as there is no signal. Works as your own personal tour guide. Tells you where points of interest are, history of the interest and area. Very informative. Also plays island music between stops. I would have passed up important spots if not for this app. Well worth the small fee.

App seems to make you want to feel guilty for visiting Maui. OK I get it. You don’t want us here. I’m sorry we came.

This app was very worth the money for my family. The narrator had great info and told us what was not worth stopping at and what we should definitely see. The history of Hawaii on the way back was very informative and helped keep my kids involved while we made the drive.

The Shaka app came in handy when we lost our cell signal half way through the drive. Even with the research we did on the Road to Hana (wrote down the mile marker for our intended stops), the app was a great reminder when stops were approaching. When you’re driving on that curvy road, it was easy to miss a stop. We enjoyed the history commentary and made our drive quite engaging/entertaining. Highly recommend this app for the Road to Hana drive!

The app was awesome. Very easy to use and the whole family, adults and teenagers listened along to the history, routes to take, stops and sights to make, and it kept everyone entertained. It was extremely informative and I’m glad we had the app for our day trip to Hana.

Pretty limited information. Lots of voice prompts for obvious commonsense general advice. Plenty of music and mostly basic information on plants, animals, culture, history. Prompts were sometimes not synchronized for location. An hour or less on the internet the night before would be more informative for planning. Main advantage is that it lets you know when some stops are coming up while you’re concentrating on driving. Turned it off on the way back.
