  • Somehow worse than Duolingo

This app started off on a bad foot by throwing kanji in immediately but I figured I’d probably need it eventually so I powered through. Then there are multiple times when the app just doesn’t recognize my voice properly and so it counts an answer wrong even though I’m saying it properly. I forgave that a few times because it could just be a device issue, except that there are times where it will detect me saying the exact same word just fine later in the lesson. Then there’s the worst part of all, sometimes if you answer a question too fast, it will count it wrong. It will even show you the right answer (that you picked) in green and show you a different answer as though that’s the one it thought you picked. I had a few issues with Duolingo and decided to give this a try… I have regretted this absolute waste of my time and money.

It’s a really good app to learn but the speaker doesn’t hear that well and it’s kinda money hungry as it only gives you one coarse and then has to pay for more but I must’ve missed something if it did say I have to pay for more
  • Access to my account

I’d change my phone and I’m no able to get access to my learning. I’d pay for the yearly subscription and I need to use the app.
  • Save your money

The strength of this app is with the Word List where the student can study then later practice. But you cannot access the word list until after stumbling through the awful app trying to answer questions for something you know nothing about. If you are learning in school then the app will work as is. If you are teaching yourself, save your money on this app. But if you think you can answer a Russian question, for example, without learning anything what so ever about Russian, then go ahead and waste your money. Oh, and you can’t answer blindly to get to the word list because it takes you back the beginning and refuses to let you see the list, WTH. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! Or you will regret it. I have contacted the company and they refuse to make changes, Bluntly, allow the student access to the Word List before starting the lesson. Those who don’t want the word list before hand, they can just ignore it.
  • Difficult

The app is decent BUT if you want to go back and practice it won’t let you, there is no repeat or retry option so you have to exit, and start from cover again. I have been trying to cancel and you can’t. I emailed support and received no reply.
  • Good but could offer even more impact

I wish there was more speaking exercises. I like the conversation part of each lesson and I appreciate that they actually offer Croatian which is hard to find. I used Pimsleur for their intro to Croatian and found that to be the single most effective tool. Adding more repetition and speaking to the app will help with recall and actual speaking in addition to word recognition (which is how most of these apps work in lieu of speaking). Keep strengthening the chat tools, speaking, and other repetition elements and this can be an even better app.
  • Why the AI stuff??

I don’t trust what I’m learning if I can’t be sure it was actually curated by a human being. The AI assets look and feel cheap.
  • Guess your words in Spanish, you don’t even heard of before

It was good for the first lesson then it wanted me to pay $15 dollars a month to keep learning and it was supposed to be free
  • Watch for unauthorized billing
