    Im trying to read books and translate words im unfamiliar with to Portuguese ( my native language) and i thought this would give me the definition in Portuguese as well but no… it just translates ??? Might as well use google and to pay for this.

  • Unethical ads on free version

    The Spanish dictionary seems very good after a week. It has more definitions than the Collins dictionary and better coverage of Latin American words. The ads on the free version range from highly intrusive videos that you can’t skip to downright evil ads that look like system notifications saying that your iPhone is about to stop working. I would have bought the subscription if I had a better experience on the free version. But any company that is going to treat me like that can go to hell.

    The Oxford Italian Dictionary does NOT consistently provide the plural form for most nouns. E.g., if you enter "sisters" it returns no results in Italian. It will offer sorella for sister, but doesn't inform the user of sorelle for sisters. How can it fail to provide the plural for nouns and call itself a dictionary? Or are plurals an extra subscription??

    Today I got shown a really obnoxious ad in the app for the first time. If this were a free app I would just delete it, but I actually paid $20 for this. So incredibly insulting. I cannot believe the gall of the developers of this app to charge top dollar for it, AND to chuck obnoxious full screen ads in my face when I need to use it. Shame on you!

    On the way to opening the app, to get to the Dictionary itself there is a curated series of questions to determine how this Dictionary will be used.It’s an attempt to curate my content. I have to skip over these things because I don’t want curated content. When you finally open the app and get to the Dictionary itself the ads in the bottom slow down my experience. Advertisements pop up. Obviously I do not want to pay for a Dictionary, an annual subscription. What I do want is open free education. And not to see advertisements for Meta. That alone will forever deter me from ever purchasing a subscription. Needless to say I will be deleting this app. Meta-can support you. Is it any wonder of the world is not getting any smarter?
