  • The Essential Missing Link Between Apple Calendar and Reminders

This app is so good that I started enthusiastically using Apple Calendar and Reminders over Things, Google Calendar, and Amie / Morgen. It has drastically simplified my tasks and calendar needs, works perfectly everywhere, and is by far the most reliable software in its class that I’ve used. Not a single todo or event has vanished on me yet. I will be a long-time subscriber. Give it a try! You’ll love it.
  • License Model

License Model for my task management and my CAL and email are google account. I am all MAC and have loved using fantastical but now moving into retirement and fixed income I cannot justify all my subscription apps so have to adjust to free or paid license apps. Which generall do the core of heavy lifting. So paid apps need to be pretty special
  • Doesn’t feel worth the subscription price anymore

When Fantastical came out 10+ years ago it was absolutely amazing, truly an example of how to show natural language processing working in an application. When they went to a (not cheap) subscription model I was a little surprised by the price, but figured it would pay for ongoing development and improvements. Unfortunately, it seems like not only have few real changes and been made, but overall stability has gotten worse in the last few years. The app keeps hanging when I try to make new invites on my MacBook (M1 Max), often locking my entire computer up for a bit in the process. The only way to get things working again is to force quit from Activity Monitor, where I see multiple instances of ‘Fantastical Helper’ running. I also have to dismiss a paste warning almost every time I open Fantastical on my phone. The event creation experience, which was always the killer feature for Fantastical, hasn’t really improved in the last 3 years and still doesn’t handle things like making recurring events terribly well. Given the current state of AI and NLP, it really feels like the dev team is asleep at the wheel on this front. I know Flexibits is a small dev team, but for $70+ per year I would expect an app that is more stable under the hood and keeps its core capabilities closer to the cutting edge of tech.

I have a difficult time finding the prices of “in app purchases”. I finally found prices for this app but don’t know if they are single payment, monthly subscription, annual subscription or what. It’s frustrating. I love this app and didn’t want to rate it since I’m torn between rating the app and rating the way pricing it shown,
  • No longer useable

Without Flexibits Premium (blocked by my employer), you can not accept meetings, even if you don't want to reply to the sender. The pop-up relentlessly reminds you free mode. I need to find a new calendering setup.
  • Locked up features that were previously available

Pretty sure they just locked up the ability to send invites when creating a calendar invite behind a subscription. This isn't a cheap app, and losing a feature after using it for a while isn't acceptable.
  • Features dissapearing over time for legacy non-subscription users

I piad for this app way before it went subscription. I didn't want to pay for subs, and that's ok if new features are not accesible to me. But over time I've been noticing that certain simple things, like seeing the date in the mini window now requires a subscription. I think an advanced notice to turn off updates would have been the nice thing to do, instead of taking features away little by little to "force" its user to pay a subscription. WHich I wqon't do, I'm moved to BusyCal and not looking back.

App often crashes and won't respond after trying to open a meeting link from the top bar dropdown thing. This is very inconvenient and often causes me to run late to meetings. It's been doing this for months. Please fix.

Fantastical is my go to calendar. It syncs across my Mac, iPhone, and iPad. All of my Google calendars are in one place, and it never fails me. Thanks Devs for a great app.
  • UPDATE: Menu Bar Icon shows nothing!! (This has been fixed)

It appears the recent update deactivated several formerly free functions for users of the last paid app version before Fantastical switched to a subscription model. The menu bar icon for example now displays nothing, and you have to subscribe to change the menu bar icon to display a date or any other information. That was not the situation 2 weeks ago. Very unfortuante that Fantastical chose to eliminate several formerly free functions in the app update and did not communicate to users that updating would deactivate those feautres without subscribing. Very sneaky and unethical. UPDATE: Fantastical has released an update that has fixed the problems and restored the formerly free features. Good for them and glad to see they responded quickly to the complaints. The app now works correctly and very well. Fantastical a very good calendar and scheduling app, so it is nice to see everything working as it was before the problematic app update that casued the problems.
