  • Useful, but limited

I've used e-Sword for a few years now, starting with the PC version. I now also have the iPhone, iPad, and macOS versions. I've purchased a large percentage of the resources from estudysource.com (plus the NET and NASB bibles), as well as downloading a few others from biblesupport.com. Pros: 1) I really like that the modules are downloaded locally so that an internet connection isn't required to use the app. 2) I like that (at least on the Windows and macOS versions), the downloaded resources can be backed up locally as well. 3) Paid add-on modules tend to be much less expensive than other apps (Logos, Olive Tree, etc). Cons: 1) Available resources are somewhat limited compared to some of the other apps. 2) Probably the biggest for me - there's no sync across devices. If you only use e-Sword for *reading* content, that's not a big deal. But if you're *creating* content (highlights, bookmarks, notes, etc.) and you use multiple devices, you'll want to look for a different app. There *is* now a way to backup and import your highlights/bookmarks/notes on each device, but it's a manual process. If you made any new highlights or notes on your iPhone, you need to remember to manually backup your content to iCloud/Dropbox/OneDrive/etc., then import that content into e-Sword on your iPad/PC/Mac in order to have it show up there. It's way too easy to forget and then overwrite work you've already done. Seamless syncing of user content would raise my rating to 5 stars.

A verson of RSV sould be great to have with this software - using a more modern version of English. Not sure why this sould not be available.

I don't know of any other Bible application that intuitively encourages MORE study. Because the resources are so vast and complete, I'm able to uncover so much truth and light during my study. A must have resource for any serious student of the Word of God.
  • I love this app. But I wish that the "Find" option worked

This is a great app but it does not let you "Find" a particular word on a page when using the Edit function... this minor tweak would really take the app up a notch... otherwise it is awesome.

I updated my e-sword app and now all my notes are gone on my MacBook Pro. The little paper/pencil icon is still beside the verses with notes, but when I open the note up there is nothing there. Does anyone know how to recover my notes, or are they lost forever?
  • YOU HAVE TO PURCHASE OTHER TRANSLATIONS!!!

DON"T BUY THIS APP. I was looking for an app that I could use to study and read. This is not what it seems to be. I just purchased it and if you are ok with KJV and KJV and a few other Translations then this is for you. HOWEVER if you are wanting the NIV or NLT both i use on a regular basis then the NIV is ANOTHER 24.95 and the NLT is ANOTHER 14.95. I really want my money back this is SOOOO WRONG in SOOO MANY WAYS.
  • NASB

I was looking for a NASB version of the Bible and found this app. I have access to online bibles that will give me access to anything I have ever wanted to study but I want the NASB version downloaded on my computer because the internet is not always available and I try to read every day. This app said ALL bibles! I downloaded and tried to access the NASB version. All I could access was the KJV. I contacted the editor and now there are additional fees for other versions. I'm sure this is an excellent app if you want the KJV. I have read numerous versions and my preference is the NASB. Sorry e-Sword, had you said I had to pay for individual versions, I would have been happy to do that but not to buy a version I don't want just to buy the one I do. I am not looking for a refund, just the version I thought was in the package. Have a BLESSED day.

Esther Chapter 10, the last verse in Esther Chapter 10 for all Bible versions is missing verses 4 through verse 44. Also all commentary is missing as well. So for example David Guzick's is cut of after verse 3 and etc
