Description

PocketGuard is a budgeting app for people who want to be on top of their money. Personal finance is made simple by smart algorithms, which means budgeting with PocketGuard is so easy that you don't have to spend your entire life crunching numbers. We take care of all the routines like expense tracking and bill monitoring so you can clearly focus on money management operations. Always know what's in your pocket! A budget is a difference between income and expenses. If it's positive - you're doing well. In any other case, the budget is unbalanced and needs attention. This is where the "Leftover" feature takes action. How much disposable income do you have after paying your bills, saving for your goals, and setting aside enough money for needs and wants? The PocketGuard budgeting app does those calculations for you! Always know the actual safe-to-spend amount so you can fit your monthly budget. Comprehensive analytics! Budget and expense tracking are just a part of the story. If you wanna do money management the right way you need to learn from the data you track. PocketGuard's budgeting app provides you with various reports to let you see personal finances from different angles. Learn about your spending habits, make necessary adjustments, and optimize your monthly budget. Bill tracker and subscription manager! You can use PocketGuard as a bill organizer. Once you connect bank accounts the app starts working as a finance tracker. All your bills and subscriptions will be identified automatically and included in your monthly budget. The bill organizer will help you never miss the due date again. PocketGuard bill organizer gives you an easy way to negotiate better rates with your provider. So you can optimize your budget by cutting costs on services you use. PocketGuard subscription manager will help you to find subscriptions you might have forgotten about. This is another money management trick - stop paying for services you no longer need. Set and reach your financial goals! Goals are a key concept of budgeting. As was mentioned before, expense tracking is just a part of the story. Personal finance is made of goals. Let's say you want to spend less on shopping or save more for vacation. These are financial goals. The PocketGuard budget app gives you all the necessary tools to set them properly. Set up your debt-payoff plan! Nobody's perfect and almost anyone has debt to pay off. The question is: do you have a plan? Connect all your credit and loan accounts and we'll show you the way to a debt-free future. Our smart algorithm calculates the most profitable debt repayment strategy so you'll save hundreds or even thousands by paying less in interest! BANK-LEVEL SECURITY We use the same 256-bit SSL encryption as all major banks to ensure your sensitive information is safe and sound. The PocketGuard app also uses PIN codes and biometrics, like Touch ID & Face ID, as an additional security layer. PocketGuard connects to U.S. and Canadian financial institutions only. PocketGuard offers a premium subscription - PocketGuard Plus - which gives you access to additional features and is not required to use PocketGuard. PocketGuard Plus subscription lengths and prices: Monthly - $12.99* / month Annual - $74.99* / year Prices are in U.S. dollars, may vary in countries other than the U.S., and are subject to change without notice. If you choose to purchase PocketGuard Plus, payment will be charged to your iTunes account. Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Auto-renewal may be turned off at any time by going to your settings in the iTunes Store after purchase. Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited if you purchase a different subscription plan. don’t give them your info or anything. these guys are jerks if you ever have a billing problem they will just tell you to go to apple. I called apple and they said it’s the app developer who is the one declining the refund requests. emailed 1000x and they just kept denying until I chargedback and they finally gave me the refund. scumlords.

It’s impressive how feature sparse this app is for how much they charge. This app has provided far more frustration than utility. Giving it 2 stars for the benefit of the doubt that all other similar apps are as bad or facing similar issues. Ultimately if you’re looking for value this app is not it.
  • Marking Bills Paid

Since the update I have not been able to mark my bills paid along with a transaction. It has taken me directly to mark the bill as a cash transaction which isn’t what I want it to do. Please fix! Update: I’m asked to contact support for help in this situation so the problem can be resolved yet I’ve been waiting a week or so and still no response from the support team. That’s even with sending two separate emails to support.

Easy to use, like the way it allows me to track my spending. 4/5 because I’ve had a challenge integrating an Amex financial account.
  • Sync issues and no resolution

My bank has not been able to sync for a week and when I reached out to customer support (twice) and have not heard back. I pay for the premium subscription and am disappointed it is no longer working.

After Mint shut down, I spent months trying to get used to other budget apps. I’m so grateful to have found this one before the end of 2024. Just so much more seamlessly user-friendly.

I’m trying out different budgeting apps to try and find one that suits me. PocketGuard wouldn’t even let me sign up to try it. I wrote to support and they said to try signing in with Apple credentials. That didn’t work either. If I can’t even sign into this app to get it to begin to work, how is it going to be once I start trying to use it.
  • Looking for a new budgeting app

I paid for premium and once my subscription period is over I think I’ll be cancelling this. I was looking for an app that could replace Mint and PocketGuard hasn’t held up for me. Pros: - You can create your own categories of spending budgets - You can rename merchants and transactions and reassign dates - You can keep track of reoccurring bills and whether you were charged Cons: - Biggest complaint and draw back: The app will show you how you’re doing in your own personal budgets you’ve customized DURING the month, but once that month is OVER you can’t see that data anymore. So if I want to know if I continually overspend or underspend in one budget, that info is gone. For previous months, it will show you broader categories in a pie chart and tell you your overall spending, but it won’t tell you how you did compared to what you wished to spend. I want to see a bar graph of my spending in each budget I created month after month and know which ones I’m overspending/underspending on to understand my habits. - Once you’ve grouped your budgets, it’s really unclear if the number at the top is your estimated total spending, or your actual spending for the month - It doesn’t always remember a merchant and a category I assigned it very well - it’s also bad at guessing what a merchant is (grocery, gas station etc.) - It’s difficult to “budget” savings into your monthly “expenses”. The app doesn’t seem to like assigning a positive balance to it. There is a goals function that you can use for savings but it doesn’t show in your monthly pot of money then. - I’ll reconnect the app to my Fidelity account and it works for like a month and then it looses a connection again. I finally stopped reconnecting it to those accounts.

I’d like to see PocketGuard implement MFA (possibly authenticator enablement)
