  • Can’t rely on this app

Route Planner in this app is outright dangerous - it plotted a route that would cross a traffic separation scheme at a long diagonal, instead of a right angle, as legally required by COLREGs Rule 10c. The features are otherwise very basic or of questionable quality. I noticed that in some spots map rendering is buggy - depth contours are broken and shifted. I had high hopes for this app originally, especially for an inexpensive access to the US and Canada maps. But after seeing those issues I don’t feel I can rely on it for navigating safely and cancelled my subscription. The app needs serious improvements in functionality and quality control.

Now that you have added auto-route creation, I will not be renewing my other apps. Great work and well done!! It would be a great feature for those of us cruising with a limited bandwidth budget if data updates (charts, ActiveCaptain, USACE, etc)could be made peer-to-peer between devices on the same account. Not only would it be faster and cheaper for customers, it would likely halve your cloud computing costs!

I’m from the Maldives and the Maldivian map was just trash for me. Maybe due to lack of people here using the app. I had to pay $15 to try the map and it gives 14 day free trial but the free trial starts 1 year after you paid for the app. Like if I pay 2025 Jan, the free trial really starts Jan 2026 because it doesn’t refund even if I didn’t like the app. It’s false advertising on that part. Maybe can say “Buy 1 year and get 2 weeks free” that would be more accurate. Hopefully the devs would care enough to update the maps. Thanks

The biggest issue with electronic maps is the integration of USCG NOTAMS with chart data. Aqua maps accomplishes this seamlessly.

I’m enjoying this app as an easy reference if the chart plotter is offline. Nice way to map out a tentative route before a cruise.

tracks and data in a single account are not synchronized in different devices… sharing data is painful…

I’ve been playing with this app for a while and it is my favorite. The charts are clear and attractive, and a cool feature is that I can import waypoints with photos via à KNL file. Not many GPS app can do that. Also, as a small boater, currents are very important and it looks like they just added my feature request to be able to see currents at à further out zoom level. Thanks! This really helps with route planning and timing over à larger area. Before I had to zoom in and pan around looking for these things. Now it is clear when you’re looking at the “big picture” which way the water will be flowing. Integration with Garmin and all sorts of other things like AIS make it à compete app. Also, the annual fee is reasonable compared to other apps. Overall I am quite happy!!
