EpiWatch is available in the U.S. and requires a prescription from a U.S. clinician for account activation after download. CLINICALLY VALIDATED SEIZURE DETECTION EpiWatch is powered by an FDA-cleared seizure detection algorithm that detected 98% of tonic-clonic seizures in clinical trials with a false alarm rate of .08 per 24 hour period. This means you can set up a cellular Apple Watch for a loved one using your own iPhone and their EpiWatch account, giving them full access without them needing a smartphone of their own. ALERTS CAREGIVERS VIA E-MAIL, PHONE CALL, OR TEXT When EpiWatch detects tonic-clonic seizure activity, it sends seizure alerts to the EpiWatch caregiver list by phone call, text, and e-mail directly over the watch’s wi-fi or cellular connection. CUSTOMIZABLE CAREGIVER ALERT PREFERENCES Add as many caregivers as you need to your alert network with no extra cost. Customize each caregiver's alert preferences for notification. ALERTS CAREGIVERS TO YOUR LOCATION EpiWatch includes the watch wearer’s GPS location with alert messaging. I found an article online praising EpiWatch. I read how it was the only FDA approved app. Once I tried to create an account, it then requires a prescription from your doctor. Which was fine. What they don’t disclosed up front is the annual cost of $220 to use the app. You don’t find this out until after you downloaded the app, create the account, have your provider send you a script, send the script to the app, the app has to approve your script. Then after all that, you are hit with a fee of $220. Please don’t waste your time and energy.
  • How does this work

There is little information to find to demonstrate how this works. I see no way to log information or no notifications that insure it is monitoring or not. They were quick to activate my account once I uploaded the prescription (less than 12 hours) and the test alert and calls worked well for everyone, but that’s it. Having some reassurance or at the least an official video that shows what the app looks like both from the phone, and from the actual watch would be helpful. Also I am a parent with my child’s watch and child’s apple id paired to my phone so that would need a separate video than an adult monitoring their own. Thankya

This App alerted our son Ben, who has Epilepsy and Ventricular Tachycardia. The App alerted Ben BEFORE he had a tonic-clonic or grand mal seizure! It is very dark out, and Ben’s blood sugar was low. Ben drank some ginger ale, and Ben did not go into a seizure because of this App! We are SO GRATEFUL! We were in the same room and heard the ding, then a ten-second countdown to alert caregivers, which Ben stopped because we were with him. We have NEVER had an APP ( and we have tried them ALL alert us before a seizure! This is Brilliant, THANK YOU EpiWatch! 🙏
