  • It’s a New Fire Emblem

I have only recently discovered it (I’m ashamed of myself), but it has been fun. It definitely needs more content and I feel a bit more single player merely because it is too reliant that one on multiplayer. It may not seem it though, but there is a lot of strategy. If one is not playing smart on either role, they will get themselves destroyed. If they play smart, they have a chance. Obviously the game needs more content and wish there had been at least a little bit more story to it when it released. Otherwise though, it is good. Also as far as I’m concerned, whether it is good or bad, it’s a new Fire Emblem. I’m going to play it because I enjoy the franchise. Other players can hate all they want, but as far as I’m concerned, there is no issue disliking the game, as long as it doesn’t bring hate to the devs or players that enjoy it. The fact is these people didn’t spend the days working on the game so they have no right to be mad at the creators. As for fans, if one is looking down on a FE fan for playing an FE game, they aren’t a real FE fan. In short though, outside of more content needed and maybe a bit more single player for at least the story, it’s a very good game.

The gameplay loop gets old in 3 plays. It's a trash game with a little FE IP slapped on top to try to make it sell. Lyn is not worth $10. Save your money for FE content with real strategy.
  • Fun but seems to be suffering balance issues

As time has progressed the game has gotten more and more unbalanced to the point where it is no longer fun to play. I have updated my rating to one star to reflect this. Its boring to play as light and frustrating to play as shadow. You pay money to level your characters past level 7 or you simply lose to the whales after your rank rises to a certain point, which makes the balancing issues even more apparent.

i think its very fun and has Amazing designs, i just wish they'd update it more and have more stuff to do. would also love to see it on switch 2 since mouse controls would be perfect for this game. absolutely love the characters but it is a shame all these good ideas are stuck in a mobile game, whereas the switch just gets boring stuff like engage :( but i really enjoy this game a lot
  • Decent game muddied by West Coast US culture

The gameplay is alright. Not catching my attention but I am playing since they just released Mecha Corrin (wallet forgive me for I have sinned…). Also nice that it has dual audio. Also very nice that they forgoed the gacha monetization model However I have to play battles to accumulate currency to read through the story. But the story starts off nonsensically with the heroine masquerading as a male (alright) but also a royal family member and the king’s sole surviving heiress. Cool. But the she has a fiancée who is also royalty and is aware of her masquerading as a boy. Okay no, do these writers know anything about legacy? Familial responsibilities? When you are born in such positions where other people, an ENTIRE POPULATION rely on you, you make choices at the sacrifice of your own personal needs and desires. Maybe this relationship will be explored that gives me confidence and excitement but it is not giving me the motivation to want to play more. But cute waifus and a prospective son of Ashnard getting a beast form that would make his pops proud just might keep me around. We will see.

This game is a fantastic way to kill some time. Each battle is bite-sized and lasts about 3-5 minutes. The social deduction element suffers from the same problems all similar games suffer from — to have fun with it you need to play with people who are capable of paying even the most minute amount of attention, which sadly means 99% of people don’t qualify. However, the games are so fast and generally consequence free (you still gain in ranking when you lose, at least for a while) that it doesn’t bother me too much. You gain in power by leveling up all your characters, each of whom has four spells that level with them, three of which can be used by every other character as well. Super neat, though a bit confusing at first. If I have one complaint it’s that you’re gonna get one-shot a lot early on. Even later on progression, if you’re light and the enemy is dark and has a decently leveled spell that exploits your element you might end up one-shot. But it’s fun and worth your time.

    Bland, repetitive and uninspiring
  • Fun but deeply flawed

Fire Emblem Shadows is a 2v1 auto-battler using a rock-paper-scissors damage system. The story and content are currently quite sparse and can be finished within 3 weeks of playing just the 4 matches a day asked by the battle pass. The monetization isn’t overbearing, consisting of a battle pass that lets you unlock an extra character, palette swap skins, and the ability to skip levels on your characters. However, the balance of abilities is very bad. There is a small pool of abilities that are necessary to be viable and no space to experiment with others once you have those. The shadow team players can also use equipment to be able to one-shot light team players built to maximize their health when the shadow player is only one level higher.
  • Where is this game going?

This game makes no sense to me. They trickle the level up points to you once you hit level 7 I need 1500 point to level up I will never get there. The weapons in the shop are ridiculously overpriced if not spending real currency and grinding the game seems pointless. No global ranking no leaderboard just repetitive random matchmaking where you can friendly fire your own teammates. Commenting turned off in YouTube videos. Make it make sense
