Description

MarkChart is designed exclusively for previewing and editing Mermaid diagrams. Start with a built-in template to instantly create sequence diagrams, state diagrams, flowcharts, and more. Or begin with a blank document to write your own diagram from scratch. MarkChart can also be used in combination with an external editor, diagrams automatically update when changes are made. Mermaid is a Markdown-inspired text syntax to define diagrams. MarkChart will render a nice looking sequence diagram if you write the following text in your Markdown documentation: ```mermaid sequenceDiagram Alice->>John: Hello John, how are you? John-->>Alice: Great! Alice-)John: See you later! ``` PREVIEW Effortlessly previewing Mermaid diagrams without complex tools. EDITOR Create and edit your Mermaid diagrams directly in MarkChart. TEMPLATES Instantly create sequence diagrams, state diagrams, flowcharts and more. QUICK LOOK Preview your .mmd and .mermaid files right from the Files app. EXPORT Easily export your graphs to PDF, PNG, and SVG formats. SYNTAX HIGHLIGHTING Gain a better understanding of the text defining your diagram with syntax highlighting. FITS RIGHT AT HOME MarkChart is optimized for iOS and iPadOS, with Dark Mode support. • Decent Mac app, would love to see it expanded

The application works well and I have been using is daily, but good luck if you get into a syntax error. Some even minimal help with debug would make this a 5+ star app.
  • Great but…

Works fine, except an aspect of the editor. When there is a syntax error it stops at the first one, you fix it, it finds the next. Better to loop through the entire Mermaid code find the errors, propose a solution with an approve button.

From downloading it, it took about 5 minutes to understand the UI, get a sequence diagram rendering, and exported to a PNG. Excellent. (My only little nit is that I wish it watched the underlying markdown file, so that it noticed changes produced when I modify it with another editor.)
  • PNG Promblem

png images should have a transparent background
  • Almost there

This is quite good... however, I can't seem to change my background color to white. If I use the base theme and set the background color, the setting is ignored. I'd also like the ability to set a zoom factor when exporting images. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints. It works as advertised, is fast, and seems to be stable. Fixing those two issues will each earn back a star in the review!

I was looking to export a number of diagrams at work today, and the combination of a UI based renderer and a terminal utility was a great help. I could tinker with layout and margins and once comfortable, could run through my whole project. Well worth the few dollars for the paid version
  • Interface with Claude.ai

Claude.ai generates mermaid code to represent flow graphs. MarkChart provides an important means to display them on my Mac and via exporting the graphs as a .png images, allows me to store it in my Evernote book.
