  • Disappointed – Quik No Longer Stabilizes HERO Footage

    By No Longer Stabilizes Footage
The GoPro Quik app has become a huge letdown. It no longer stabilizes HERO footage. Now I have tons of shaky, unusable videos and no other built-in way to stabilize them. Without this feature, my camera is practically useless. It’s incredibly frustrating that GoPro hasn’t offered a fix or alternative. Such a shame to see a great product become unreliable.

The app works fine and I’m sure I haven’t used it enough to be better at it, but I would prefer a desktop app for more flexibility.
  • Bring back Mac availability

Go Pro eliminated Quik editing capabilities on Mac last year. We are forced to use Quik on our phones. The problem is that the application uses entirely too much storage. Furthermore, connecting to my Go Pro and uploading my media has been challenging with the mobile app. To limit editing capabilities for a premium subscriber and force the mobile app upon users seems unfair.

I am extremely disappointed in Go Pro. I had come to expect so much more from you. You are getting left in wind. There are far better apps available and you make NO EFFORT to make your app better. I don’t expect anyone from Go Pro to read these reviews, but if you do, upgrade your app or you’ll be losing me as a subscriber.

You should change the name to Glitch. That is all it does consistently.

I can see the videos on my Mac but I can’t open them.
  • Good but has flaws

My use case is that I record training videos for my sport, add stickers for speed, and send a 5-10 minute segment to coaches for review and comment. I’ll typically watch the video through to find the best several minutes. As far as I can tell, there’s no way to play back the video at 1.5x or 2x speed. That’s one flaw. During playback, I want to make a mental note of where I should start and end a clip. But it doesn’t show the current time during playback. I need to stop the video and move the frame selector to see the current time. Awkward. That’s another flaw. I apply the “current speed” sticker, but it only shows whole miles per hour. I need to see 1 or 2 decimal places, eg 5.2 mph or 5.24 mph, so I can see the impact of technique on my speed. That’s yet another flaw. It feels like GoPro oversimplified the Quik app, removing details that at crucial for coaching use cases.
