Description

Named by Time.com's @Techland as one of the best weather apps for your iPhone and Apple Watch. Severe weather alerts for your exact location. Storm Shield gives you storm-based alerts for tornado, hurricane, flood, thunderstorm, winter storms and other life-threatening weather events via voice and push notification. Storm-based alerts help reduce false alarms by alerting you to severe weather based on your exact location within a county. County-based alerts can result in false alarms, warning you when your location in the county is not within the threatened area. What people are saying: • Storm Shield "alerted our family of the Broken Arrow, OK tornado, faster than the TV and tornado sirens." - Robyn • "I was in Oklahoma City during the tornado... we were right in its path. Your app literally was a life saver." - dcalk12 Benefits: • Get voice alerts just like a NOAA weather radio via push notification anywhere in the United States. • With Apple Watch, get a tap on your wrist when alerts are issued for your locations. • Add Storm Shield's widget to your Today screen to get quick access to active alerts for the first location in your app. • Touch Storm Shield's app icon on your 3D-Touch enabled iPhone for widget access. • Hi-Def radar map is your home screen so you can quickly see what's going on at your locations. • Fully supports Dark Mode in iOS 13. • Long-tap on the map to get current conditions, hourly and daily forecasts. • Save additional locations to ensure family members stay safe. View NOAA severe weather alerts on the map to see where dangerous weather is happening: • Tap alerts to view info • Flood watches & warnings • Tornadoes & Thunderstorms • Hurricane & Tropical Storm forecast tracks • Winter storms • Marine & Coastal alerts • Radar & Clouds • Wind Speed • Snow Fall • Water Temperatures • Road Weather • Premium Weather (purchase required) • Lightning Alerts and notifications (purchase required) Enhance your app with auto-renewing monthly subscriptions: • Buy 'Premium Weather' to unlock these features and see predicted imagery for these map layers: 1) Future Radar 2) Future Clouds 3) Future Clouds & Radar together 4) Future Surface Temperature Land 5) Future Surface Temperature Water 6) Future Surface Temperature Land & Water together 7) Future Wind Speeds Map 8) Storm Tracks: See how fast storms are moving & where they're headed. • Buy 'Lightning' to unlock these 2 features: 1) Lightning strike push notifications up to 10 miles away. 2) See lightning on the map within 100 miles of a selected location. • 5 stars but cancelling

I’m giving it 5 stars because the app is worth it, but I’m cancelling my subscription after 500% increase in price. I thought it was a mistake but then I saw many others doing the same thing. RIP Storm Shield

I used to like this app. But within the last 6 months or so I’ll get an alert notification on my lock screen, but then when I tap on it, the app tells me there’s no alerts. I end up having to close the app every time and just go check weather channel to see what the weather alert is for.
  • Too expensive

This was a great replacement for the weather underground Storm app after the Weather Channel bought that app and ruined it a few years ago. This app had almost all of the same features but it was a subscription. It wasn’t a large amount of money until this last increase. The sad part is after canceling my subscription it removed features that used to be free. I have 9 weather apps on my phone but this was always my go-to. Looking for my next go-to now. Not paying this much.
  • That price though...

I've been using Storm Shield for over 5 years and just had to cancel from the obnoxious price increase. This app is good but NOT $6.49 per month good. They feed from mapbox like plenty of other weather apps. There is nothing special about this one. Shame on the developer for being greedy! I'm certain they will see mass cancellation.
  • New Owner Greedy Price Increase

This was always my preferred weather app due to its clean efficient no-nonsense design. Happily paid 1.49 subscription for added lightning alert feature. App has been sold to a new company who have immediately jacked up the price to 6.49. No weather app is worth that, and the fact that this was for no reason other than the new owner’s greed is an outrageous mis-calculation on their part. It’s sad really. I’m done with it. They will probably clutter it up with design gimmicks to try to justify the price but the damage is done. I’m done with it. To be fair, if you wait till your current subscription ends, the app will now offer an annual price that is more reasonable, 29.99. Better than the initial App Store per month price increase notification, but still. (There is also a weekly rate offered which is the most outrageous of all, audaciously labeled “most popular” (!) at 1.99 per WEEK.) The new owners did nothing to develop what original subscribers liked about this app, but simply bought it to jack up the price for profit.
  • EXPENSIVE And Glitches

This was a great app, but why the huge increase in price? You went from $1.99/month to $1.99/WEEK! Also, this app has glitched several times since July 2024., radar wouldn’t refresh, poorly timed alerts, delayed loading. Not renewing my subscription.

I’ve been a user/subscriber of this app for years and while I love the app, I cancelled my subscription because of the exorbitant subscription increase. Very disappointing.

This should be free all around. Safety and weather is not something ANYONE should pay for
  • Snow now in cm instead of inches?

Why is the unit now in cm instead of inches?
  • Good radar, weather alerts not so much

Radar works great but anyone there is an audible weather alert, you cannot view what the alert is about and read about it. Takes a long time for the information for the alert to be posted.
