Today was the first day I was able to access my Chronicle on line. After much conferring with the expert at the Chronicle I am now up and enjoying reading the news on my iPad

The Health section had not been updated since September. The comics section might show the newest one or show ones from last week.

The subscription is $6/month, and worth just about that. Certainly not more. There are between 1-3 fresh stories in each of the news and editorial sections each day - but frequently zero. There is almost zero national or world news. Future president convicted of a felony? Large portions of Los Angeles burning? You might never know. The sports page seems to get updated, as does the Style section. I'm not interested in either of those, I'm here for the news. I will say that Chris Tomlinson is excellent and a large part of the reason I subscribe. The comics section will frequently go 5-10 days or more without updating. Today's comic section shows that it was updated this morning, but the most recent comic I can see is 8 days old. Since the app only loads the last seven days when it works, they're just lost to me. With all of that, I am usually done reading the entire Chronicle (excluding Sports and Style but including the Comics) in 7-10 minutes. Since I haven't had fresh comics for the past week, I've been done in 3-5 minutes. But wait - there's more! Every time you open the app you'll be asked to sign in to your account to get access to the e-edition and more! No thank you. I'm using an app and paying through Apple so I don't need an account. That's the point. Stop bothering me Every. Dang. Day. So, I'll give it a "meh." Worth it to support local news but it's certainly not a great experience.

No longer taking print edition as family member who couldn’t use the digital edition is no longer with us. I use the app primarily for local and state news. I find this iPhone app to be frustratingly unreliable. Several times each week while trying to scroll through an article it will freeze, go back to the beginning of the article, or crash and disappear entirely. This behavior repeats even after killing the app and restarting it. I’ll continue to use other paid national news apps for national and world news. My continued use of the subscription for the digital edition of this publication may depend on whether the iPhone app improves. Update 12/24 So today the app stated I’d reached a free article reading limit, although I’m signed in to a paid digital subscription. I can read the same article signed in to the website. So this is a bug in the iPhone app. I’m reducing my rating by one star as a result. Turns out I wasn’t signed in. But sign in process hangs up after entering credentials, on WiFi with VPN at clinic, on cellular data, and now on home WiFi. Minus another star.

Subscription cost too much. I recommend $7 a month $5 for the chronicle

The problem with this news app as with most is that they constantly push old news stories.

If it wasn’t for the fact I needed this paper for work, I wouldn’t subscribe. So liberal one sided media.

The newspaper articles on politics are far too liberal and obviously biased. It does not represent fair reporting. If not for the sports section I would cancel my subscription.

Love having every article anytime anywhere and no paper amassed to get rid of.

I’ve been a Chronicle subscriber since the 70s and the clunky system still treat me like a non-subscriber. I get in the middle of an article and it cuts me off. Forget it goodbye Chronicle.
