  • Unfriendly and poor readability

When Hearst took over the statesman, they changed the app. Now there’s a big advertising banner at the top and another banner at the the bottom with newspaper. options. This limits the actual newspaper reading area which is now too small and fiddly. Very unhappy with the changes and readability. Swiping between pages isn’t consistent and doesn’t always work. Unpleasant to use now.

Hate this new online paper. It is not even accessible through the app. Current local stories not in paper until days later.

Random reorganization. Much more difficult to access desired material. Tilting to cancellation
  • Small print

The new format does not allow me to see the print as big as I would wish. This is not an improvement.
  • Miss the old app

I miss the old app that was very easy to use. I can no longer skip to the next section. Ads are always present on the screen now and there are new pop-up ads that are annoying. I used to download the edition in the app for offline reading later. That is also gone.

The change is terrible. Here’s why. 1. The Plus sections are gone. 2. Now there is no current sports information. 3. Advancing back and forth between separate Sections can only be done going page by page. 4. Lost access to USA Today. I will question by renewal of the Statesman

Since the change in ownership, this paper has become awful!!!
  • Hate the new app

New format is finicky, awkward and difficult. Content is more progressive than ever. Why all the press on things like drag shows and Greg Cesar, and nothing for conservatives? And sports? 2-3 day old stories
  • Still late

The Austin American Statesman appears to be still a day behind on some stories and sports coverage. I really miss the USA Today Extra that was included in the Statesman APP before the transition
