Description

Jesus Calling is your yearlong guide to living a more peaceful life. The Jesus Calling App is the mobile version of the time-tested classic packed with digital and audio features that make this daily devotional more accessible than ever. Experience a deeper relationship with Jesus as you savor the presence of the One who understands you perfectly and loves you forever. With Scripture and personal reflections, New York Times bestselling author Sarah Young brings Jesus' message of peace—for today and every day. By spending time in the presence of the Savior with the much-loved devotions from Sarah Young, you will: • Feel comforted by a daily word of hope and encouragement • Be reassured of Jesus' unending blessings and love for you • Receive gentle guidance based on daily Scripture readings • Connect with Jesus further with reflection and meditation based on God’s Word Written as if Jesus Himself is speaking directly to you, Jesus Calling invites you to experience peace in the presence of the Savior who is always with you. These writings are personal reflections based on Jesus’ own words of hope, guidance, and peace within Scripture—penned by one who loved Him and revered His Word. The Bible is the only infallible, inerrant Word of God, and author Sarah Young kept her writings consistent with that unchanging standard during her lifetime. She wrote from the perspective of Jesus speaking, to help readers feel more personally connected with Him. So, the first person singular (“I,” “Me,” “My,” “Mine”) always refers to Christ; “you” refers to you, the reader. • Disappointing

I have been a Jesus Calling reader year after year as it seems to be always so relevant for the days needs. I took a break for another routine and when I came back to the app, lo and behold I was now required to pay a fee for the same readings I had been following for years. I have too many subscription obligations and so I'm not going to subscribe to another. Sadly I will be deleting the app and will look for another to replace it.
  • Is it all about $$ now?

I bought the app years ago so I could read the daily message when I was away from home (at work, etc). That is all I want. I don’t want access to other books or the audible option. Now I am unable to access what I previously purchased without a monthly subscription $$. Why is such a Christian effort so income $$ focused that they take away what people purchased? Seems they’re more focused on their own earthly treasures.

Devotions have always been difficult for me. Jesus Calling is the tool that has been most helpful for quality and consistency.

This app is nothing more than the book in a mobile version. The content doesn't change year to year. So how in the world do they justify moving to a subscription model?! When you buy a book you purchase it ONE TIME. The same should hold for this. I was fine with making a one time purchase for the app WHICH I DID but then they changed and that money apparently went for nothing now. You cannot serve two masters and sadly it seems that they have chosen money for their master.
  • Decades of Encouragement

JC has been my go-to read every morning for over a decade. As a seasoned follower of Christ and getting advanced in age, I would highly recommend it to anyone either beginning their journey with Christ as Lord, or one who’s been following Him for a long time. Anyone can hear from the Holy Spirit with practice. Like Sarah, take the word with prayer, focusing on Christ, ask Him to speak and be sure to write down what you hear. Anything from Him is either uplifting or kindly convicting. Anything condemning is not His voice. Be encouraged. He wants us to hear His heart for us, his sons and daughters! 💞

Every time I get a new phone, I’m locked out of the daily devotionals I once purchased before they started a subscription service. I’ve reached out on the email support with no response back from Harper Collin’s. They’ve helped me before but it keeps happening each time I get a new device. They haven’t gotten back to me after multiple attempts to reach them. So essentially I can’t access content I’ve purchased from them.

I am updating my review. If you purchased the app and long time ago, but the app update locked you out, contact customer support. They will give you instructions on how to restore your content.
  • This is sad

I purchased this app around 2013 because I kept giving my hard copies of Jesus Calling away. Everything was fine until a little over a year ago. It became impossible to access the content I had paid for and it was clear that app management is interested solely in people who are paying a monthly fee. This is a travesty. I paid a reasonable amount for an online book several years ago that I should still be able to access. I absolutely loved this devotional and not only gave out several copies but also gifted the app when I was able to do so. Sadly this devotional has turned into a cash cow for money hungry people.

How dare you guys exploit scripture for profit!! Gating it behind a subscription model, no thanks! I’ll just use my hard copy book instead! Everyone else, please consider buying the book or using ChatGPT which has turned out to be a wonderful free daily devotional!
