  • Can’t believe you paywalled attendee list

    Insane to paywall a feature that is widely considered paramount to the safety of attendees and organizers alike. Knowing who is going to be there shouldn’t be a “premium” feature, as it never was. People should have access to this information freely before attending an event. Very disappointing to see this app prioritizing profit over users.

    The app has become awkward to use now due to the huge number of times the “Pay us lots of money” pages keep popping up. It’s seriously impacted the user experience and has made it unenjoyable and annoying, including making it much harder to find groups that you might want to join. I’m curious if someone will start a competitor that’s not primarily a self advertising app. I’d definitely switch.

    They give you a phony email so you can’t cancel…. you’ll be paying them the rest of your life. They are the worst ever!

    This used to be a great app. I used it for 6 years. But it is horrible now. The number of ads makes it unusable. The cost for meetup plus or to make a group is way too much. Not worth the money.

  • Pain in the rear!!

    It never recognizes that I already have an account. My profile never loads. It doesn’t save my groups or give me a way to see bookmarked events in a schedule. I want to use and live this app but it’s more of an inconvenience! I can’t tell when I’ve already joined a group and can’t easily leave one if I changed my mind. Over all it’s just a really inconsistent experience. What good is the app if it’s clunky to use on your phone.

    Since yesterday's update, it will no longer open past the splash screen. Useless. I do know that MeetUP's new purpose is to rent office space, but I am an Organizer, and I pay good money to be one. UPDATE 3/12: well, there ISN'T an update, because it still does not open past the splash screen (red Meetup lettering on white background). Received NO response to the e-mail I sent. I've tried deleting and reinstalling it numerous times, to no avail.
