    I have had hundreds of dollars of patterns stored on notability and now all of a sudden they are gone. I contacted customer service and basically they replied that they can’t do anything to recover my data. I have had notability for YEARS. Probably 7-8 years at least. Don’t waste your money.

  • Disappearing Data

    Beware of this app, my data randomly disappeared this morning. After looking up online how to fix the issue, I realized that it is a widespread issue with no fix. If your notes are important at all, this is not the app for you

  • Cannot sync between devices

    This app was working fine until a point. I have no idea what it’s changed but my iPad and iPhone no longer have the option to sync via iCloud. This means that I cannot use my workflow which involves my laptop and iPad. Sadly, I have to switch to Goodnotes until Notability comes up with their own cloud solution.

  • Crashes all the time

    Such an awful app. Constantly crashes and is impossible to deal with. Leaving the app does nothing to help.

    I have been using notability for 5 years now. In the beginning, I would recommend it to everyone I knew that had an iPad, but I have not recommended it to anyone for a while now, and my frustration has reached new heights. First, like so many others, all my notes randomly disappeared one day. Despite backing up my notes to OneDrive, I was only able to recover less than half of my existing notes. Since then, I’ve made sure to have my notes automatically upload to iCloud, but this has introduced a new set of problems. Now, randomly, even when I am actively switching between notes, it’ll decide to buffer and “load” my notes from iCloud. Sometimes I’ll be waiting for 20 minutes for my note to appear. And don’t even get me started on this new subscription service, even though I made a one time purchase for the premium plan years ago. Thankfully all the same features are available, but that doesn’t stop Notability for asking me to forfeit my existing membership for a monthly one every time I open the app. Not sure what’s happening on the technical side of things, but I have been a long time user, and somehow this app keeps getting worse with age. I beg the developers to just revert to a stable update, and go make a new app with their ideas because they are ruining what used to be an amazing app.

    The app itself works relatively well but I hate the fact its on a subscription service. They're not adding anything major in updates to warrant that. Why not allow people to buy the app once and be happy? Developers are greedy trolls

  • Loses EVERYTHING

    I have used notability for over two years, and I have had consistent issues with it. For one, I keep having to switch on and off safe mode bc for some reason it chooses not to load ever. Especially the preview documents. It glitches all the time when I try to import anything. Finally, it quite literally lost two years of data and I have to spend another $500 on DAT study material bc it literally lost EVERYTHING. All my lab data is gone. Completely ruined me for this semester.

    i ike it when they allow the markers, pens, and highlighting functions to stay as seperate functions. the tape function is a game changer but i've noticed that sometimes i'm not able to access it on varying computer hardware. works great for a Mac/iPad combo.

    OK, so one thing that was not made clear until you’re using it as how limited the pay wall is for this application. You’ll start using it like a regular note app before you know it. You’re out of words and left to upgrade in order to use it again.
